Hi All,

It's that time of year again same system as last year:

Our volunteer moderator team: David A. Goldfarb, Jd Callow, Ole, SuzanneR and JBrunner. APUG's unsung heroes who work hard behind the scenes to ensure our community remains a place we all enjoy.

Feel free to make a small contribution to them as a thank you. I've included a paypal link to this post which will let you select the amount you like (and produce a flag in my account so I can keep track of donations). I will let this run until the new year, post the final amount, then close the thread and split the contributions between them.

Feel free to post a note in this thread stating you have contributed.

Here is the paypal link:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Creditcard instead of paypal here:

http://photocentric.gostorego.com/do...l?options=cart (scroll down and change Qty for donation amount, also be sure to state "tip jar" in the purchase comments.)

Thanks!
Sean

P.S. Last years info can be found here: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)
Last year we managed final tally was 16 donations at $300 US.

OK. I'll start it off this year...

Even though I'm pretty sure I've irritated each of them at least once in the previous 12 months, this is still the best moderated site on the web.

And if I ever run into any of them (or Sean) in a bar, I'll also buy 'em a beer...

"Well, what an amazingly stupid jury, turning down several of the greatest photographs ever made! But what could I expect? History repeats itself. Calendar Art wins. The language of form cannot be read except by those with the key; to others it is no more than meaningless hieroglyphs. I understand the first award went to a bromoil.

"I have a mind to make several negatives especially for next year's contest, sending them under an assumed name..."

— Edward Weston, May 11, 1928, on the occasion of submitting three of his photographs to a local juried show in San Diego, California, all of which were summarily rejected.

Didn't we have a thread a while ago about a certain camera company not accepting analogue photographs in a photo contest?

"Photography suits the tempo of this age—of active bodies and minds. It is a perfect medium for one whose mind is teeming with ideas, imagery, for a prolific worker who would be slowed down by painting or sculpture, for one who sees quickly and acts decisively, accurately."

— Edward Weston, June 19, 1930, on the occasion of the day after making his first egg cutter photographs, as a gentle slap at Alfred Stieglitz

"In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality."

It's the least I could do! (contribution sent).

Although that 22% premium for US dollars over Canadian dollars through PayPal made me wince!

I thought our community could do better than that. Hey, I donated 1/20 that full amount and I'm hurting. C'mon guys!! Only three days left!!
