2008 World Toy Camera Day is October 19

I received two contact prints from Marko today which look great. I especially like the forest shot.

What camera did you use Marko?

I have mine printed -- just trying to decide what post-processing to do to them before matting them up.

Vaughn

I got 2 prints today too - thanks Marko

I got the contacts from Marko - the forest is really a cool shot - should be enough motivation out of that one shot for the MF enlarger lens

and...my prints are on their way

my prints were posted today.

hope the recipients like them

glad you like it.

Mine will go out on Wednesday, Tuesday being a holiday...

Vaughn

Mine were finally mailed off today to:

msdemanche, and mouseontheloose

I know, I know... I should have prints out in the next week or so -- apologies to all in my group for being late, this has been a very trying couple of months with work (a new job) and moving twice in as many months.

Has anyone Heard From Art leim? (gr82bart)? I sent him a print approximately a month ago, which should have got to the states long before now, but haven't received any confirmation of receipt from him. I have sent him a message but got no reply. I see from his profile that he has logged on as recently as yesterday - Art, if you havent got it, I'll send another ... let me know please?

Vaughn, got mine today i love the cat tails. beautiful prints.
Michel

Thank you, Michel. After years of 8x10 work (and occasional work with the rolleiflex), using the Diana Camera was a fun, and freeing, experience. The prints are on old Portriga Rapid...a little bleaching to clear up the age, and some selenium toning to spice up the color, and I quite enjoyed the results!

My prints are now ready for the post office...after a last minute re-do session, hehe. Dust sucks!! My local photo lab tells me "you" (meaning me) can't get Marshalls spot tone stuff anymore in Canada. Is that a crock of s**t or what? Rant over.

I received a lovely mounted & matted B&W print from Michel (msdemanche) today. It's a close up photo of a lock and chain around a gate. I love it.

Wow the standard of prints I have received is so high. These are some of the best prints from any exchange I have taken part in and these are from so called toy cameras

I think I need to go out a re-take my stots

vaughn , you used my favorite paper. I do miss portiga. I started quite a discussion with photo engineer on one of the forums, asking if there was any chance of anyone working to get that beautiful warm tone in papers today. very interesting indeed.

vaughn , you used my favorite paper. ...michel

I started using Portiga after the first big change...about 1979, give or take a year or so. I used it up to the last awful change when they had to leave out the heavy metals and they ruined the beautiful surface the 111 had. Those heavy metal would make it difficult to bring it back.

I still have a small stash of the old (and a partial box of the original) that I bring out for such special occasions, since I do not use silver gelatin much at all these days (I do mostly platinum and carbon printing). I got the prints to split-tone nicely with selenium.

PS...Kathy...SpotTone is no more! But I do have a 3oz bottle of #3 that will have to be pried out of my dead fingers if someone else wants it!

Kathy, it is not called spot tone anymore. Marshalls does make a dye substitue. Looked it up, Freestyle etc. has it.
I agree with Vaughn, my tone is very well hidden from my students. they will have to learn on the "substitues"
