Hi!

I've a De Vere 203 with the Ilford Multigrade 500H head that I'll be firing up soon. I've two questions that I'd like some insight on, if possible?...

1. I only have the 120 mixing box for the head. I've spotted a 35mm box on eBay for the De Vere 504. I presume I can use that on the 203, correct?

2. Does the De Vere 203 neg holder require anti-Newtonian glass?

Thanks in advance.

Re 1: not necessarily. The drop from the little flanges which stop the box falling through the plate to the point where the frosted screen is just above the neg holder varies from enlarger to enlarger; it may be OK but may mean the frosted screen is sitting on the neg holder, or it may be too separated from it for even illumination. Certainly varies greatly; I have boxes for Focomat !!c and Durst DA 900, but 203 and 504 may be the same.

1. Don't bother with the 135 mixing box, it'll make the 500 (already an extremely powerful head) far too bright for sensible apertures.

2. Contact Odyssey Sales for inserts etc.
