What's the best for using as a backer (release) board in a dry mount press? I have always sandwiched the mat board with print between 2 sheets of 4-ply mat board with release paper, but I am now in the process of changing with new board with fresh release paper and wonder if it would be best to use 2-ply instead of 4-ply for both front and back or 4-ply for the back and 2-ply for the front? Also museum, conservation, or illustration board or does it matter?

I would imagine the 2-ply will take less to heat up so it should cut down on the mounting time. What is your release paper, may I ask?

D&K Buffermount. I was running low on 8.5x11 and 11x14 sheets and needed 16x20 so I sprang for the roll which I can cut-down to size.
That's the drymount tissue (I use the same, but from when it was Bienfang.) I was asking about the release paper as you mentioned above - or did you mean the tissue.
