$2 Photo Found At Junk Store Has Billy the Kid In It, Could Be Worth $5 Million

Some people have all the luck.
 
I would be less skeptical if experts at a state historical society had verified Billy the Kid's indentification in the photo, rather than a private, for-profit company heavily involved in the antiques trade. I'm not necessarily implying the claim is intentionally fraudulent, but sometimes a profit incentive can influence analysis, leading to hasty conclusions based on wishful thinking.
 
How could anyone looking at this photo get the idea in first instance that it is depicting Billy the Kid, to have it checked then ??

$2 or $5000K, it is still the same picture which means that from the photographic standpoint, value is pointless.
