2 35mm reels by Hewes. I've used these and they load fine. $55 for both plus shipping from 56468.

Out of curiosity, are these the reels that allow you to load two rolls of film back to back? I know you needed the two pins that stick up to put the sprockets through.

I have never tried it with 2 rolls back to back.

But the Hewes reels use a slightly heavier gauge wire so I think the spacing between the spirals is a bit less. And that might make it more difficult to wind 2 rolls back to back. And there is always the issue of whether you'd have enough developer for 2 rolls back to back. I could see it working better with a 20/24 exp reel.

Interestingly, I have 2 reels here that appear to be Hewes clones. They look like Hewes (with the 2 pins) and have the heavier gauge wire like Hewes. They weigh the same as Hewes - within the precision of my postal scale and are about 1oz heavier than my Nikor reels. And most importantly, they load as easy as Hewes reels. But they have no manufacturer markings.

Hi Dirk, I have Hewes reels and they do have the pins and I have rolled film back-to-back on them. I have done that with other reels as well but it is much easier with the Hewes reels.
