A quick scan only shows Efke, and Foma which is priced higher. Efke is out of stock at B&H in 100iso. Has it come to just these two in cut film? I'm not relishing cutting up 4x5 stock and am now considering a rollfilm back instead. Who's doing what in regards to the format. Thanks

Ilford make it as part of their annual large format custom orders. I saw someone selling some excess supplies here the other week; think it was FP4. A couple of years ago I also got some Fuji Acros in this size from Japan Exposures, might be worth checking his site.

Freestyle shows Ariste EDU Ultra (Foma). Not sure how the price compares with Foma branded film.

Why would you cut 4X5 when you can get 8 2.25 X 3.25 out of a roll of 120 film?

Yea that's the point.

Also, the Foma and Arista are supposedly the same as noted here in a search.

Because 120 is on a thin base and dark slides have no pressure plate, so it wouldn't sit flat.

There's a company who will cut almost any size film - Wephota, not sure who carries it since GVB Glass closed down.

Hi W A Crider

Ilford HP5+ and FP4+ are available in 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 during the Ilford ULFF special order - probably late spring. All the available sizes are listed on our web site. Since this special order is available once a year - you need to think about how much film you will need till the next special order. If you would like me to send you a reminder of the special order please send me an email.

Try Freestyle. They should have some.

You can also order some when Ilford does their yearly run of special sizes. (FP4 or HP5 only TMK; no Delta.)

Is it not true that Ilford charges extra to cut a "special" order item, than if it were a common (standard) size on the shelf? For instance 2.25x3.25.... how long do you think it will be before they charge extra once a year for 4x5? ...and leave the cost (inconvenience) of storage up to us? You and I will be running a freezer AND a refridg. just for film.... while saying "WOW, Ilford sure is nice to let us have our "FIX" of film once a year... I sure am glad they charge me extra so they can run the film production line for three months a year and save all that employee cost, overhead and storage space... Oh, and then they could afford to start up the Centennial POP line once a year and really look like the good guys...

You should remember that sizes like 2¼x3¼ were predominantly plate and film pack formats, or roll film, rather than individual sheet film. So it's not a high volume product and won't have been for very many years.

My Dad had the same problem for years. He decided it was easier (for him at least) to cut down some old 4x5 stock he had in the freezer. I think someone must have given him the film since he never owned a 4x5 camera.

I usually the Arista/Foma in sheet and use a rollfilm back for 120 when I want color.
I was starting to use more Efke but with the recent rise in price its back to the Arista

If you don't need much of it, or if you want an emulsion other than what's available as 2x3, it might make sense to cut down another film, but there's something to be said for not having to cut it down and for it all coming in smaller boxes when one orders it that way, even if the per sheet price is about the same as 4x5.

Well since I won't be shooting 4x5 I'm gonna cut up my FP4 stk and a box of 400NC till Ilford comes around.
I'm also going to be looking for a roll back to do E6. I had a Horseman years ago milled by Grimes to fit the Century but it has been gone a long time.
Does anyone know who's developing C41 6x9 sheets in the east?

If you do find someone that will do that please spread the word. I would like to just try color sheets in the baby press camera's for the fun of it

Hi W A Crider

One thing I forgot to mention is that with the Ilford special film order in the spring, there is no minimum order. So if you are looking for 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 HP5+ or FP4+ you only need to order one box. You can order as many as you want but you only need to order one box.

Aside from Ian's comment about thickness, 120 film is not exactly the same width as 2-1//4 sheet film. You would have to trim it is two directions, which would be difficult. You can get two sheets out of a single 4X5 sheet pretty easily, usually.
