This photo was apparently taken in Seoul, South Korea in 1959. There are a ton of photographers in this photo with all their neat classic cameras, and it makes me wonder: What event is this? Who is being photographed? Where did this event took place?
I tried to look around, but didn't really find any corresponding photos or information. It would be neat to find out what this is all about.
Basically it could be an event with a celebrity or a model. In the latter case it might also be a model in front of a flok of amateurs. (Even Ilford ones did such events for amateurs).
To me the photographers look like amateurs. And thus hardly you will find further information on this event.
I'd agree that the photographers definitely look like amateurs, with few "Press-type" cameras (and I've rarely seen Press photographers with their cameras in ever-ready cases).
I'd go for the theory that it's some kind of event by a photo-club, but with a lot of hangers-on looking in at the back to see what's happening ! Or maybe a fan-club event if the girl was a celebrity of some kind ?
The caption from the original source* translates as: "On September 1, 959, amateur photographers are enthusiastic about shooting around the model in order to make a good angled photograph." (sic)
That tells us something, but not a whole lot. Almost certainly a photo club at an organized shoot.
