Well, relatively cheap in the world of Petzvals.
Got a field 11X14 and dreaming of a Petzval that will cover but not break the front standards because it weighs 9 pounds?
They are few and far between! Here's a Bausch & Lomb one. First like it I've run across. Rack and pinion do not work. Shutterbug butt ugly. But guess what, it covers the 11X14 format and the image on the ground glass is gorgeous!
I set up a shot of the '40 Ford Truck pedal car this afternoon with it. Looked fantastic! I made the image, but it's not developed yet.
Issues, issues. It has a hunk out of one of the rear glasses. Blackened. No loss of contrast that I can sense. This has contrast galore, and handled direct sunlight beautifully. Front glass has a yellow spot about like the edge of a nickel. Glass surfaces are surprisingly nice. It will image superbly.
Last but not least, I set up a shot with just the front meniscus moved to the back like a landscape meniscus lens. Whoa! It was like looking through a Symmar. No buzz at all, just sharp picture. Very interesting lens, and rare as hens teeth to find. Thanks Richard! $460 + shipping
