This is an 1870's Voigtlander Euryscop Series IV #3 lens, in a great working shutter.......but;

..you'll only have my word on that fact. When the machinists installed it in the shutter, probably more than 100 years ago, they machined new 'barrels' so the original Voigtlander script on the original brass barrel has been lost.

I've owned perhaps 20 of these early 1870's Series IV's and they have unique characteristics that identify them. The front bell shape is unique to that lens. When I saw it years ago I knew exactly what it was and bought it immediately.

Like all Euryscop's this one is a stunning performer. Make sure you go to THIS page and look at the images done with this lens. Also some pre-cleanup pics of the lens before the shutter got it's CLA.

This lens can stand on it's own without any classic titles, it simple makes amazing photographs. The Series IV #3 is an 11 3/4" f6.2 Aplanat. Classic design. Sharper than the anastigmat's that replaced it and with legendary contrast characteristic. I've never had another Aplanat that is as excellent as these Voigtlander's. For more Euryscop images, but with a different lens, check out these pages. I believe this lens is coated. It returns light sapphire colored reflections. Very subtle, but definitely there.

There is no flange. I did speed checks with a shutter tester. They are very very consistent, but after the 1/2 sec setting, they are all a bit fast. I'll include the test sheet. Very very usable. I'll include a bulb and some tubing for the release. $440 + shipping for this.
