Thanks, Andy. Yes this stuff has several things going for it. Just a pity that to an extent it's "tainted" in my book by being oversold as something with qualities that exceeds all other developers

I say no more as the road will get dangerously slippery😁

Yes, and that road goes downhill also, which makes it worse yet. I’d be willing to bet that 510-P will last 3 times longer than Andy’s batch even.

I find developers which have not been mixed tend to last for long time periods, but mixed developers can go either way. Stock XTOL if sealed tightly without air can last well over a year. I make it a habit to test all developers that I have not recently used.

There's a wee bit left in the bottle. I'll hang on to it for another year, and test it.

Yes, like John, I think that it will be fine even then. Avoid a test just after Midnight on 31 Dec in case it gets mixed up with stuff that outlives even Rodinal. It's made on Speyside and there are a few varieties which have that "weak tea" look😁

A fellow local photographer gave me a 100ml of 510-Pyro in exchange for some phenidone quite some time back. It was mixed in late 2012 and sat unopened for a few years in the back of the cupboard - out of sight, out of mind. I found it three or four years ago when having a clear out. There's about 1/4 of the bottle left now and it's almost pitch black. The last film I developed with it mid-last year came out fine (according to my completely unscientific analysis).

I mixed up my own batch of 510-Pyro more recently, so maybe I should leave the old one to age a bit more and run a periodic test.
