Title says it all. This is a 110 year old lens in a 60 year old shutter.
This was in a itty bitty little brass 'junior' shutter commenurate with it's age. patd. July 23, 1901. But the original shutter choked the otherwise f7 lens down to f16 which is too corrected to be of use to the soft focus crowd.
With just the simplest of machining, it fit into the more modern Alphax which allows you to use it at it's full f7 softest.
The shutter runs great! But you'll notice 1/25th is it's slowest timed speed. Not to worry. Need 1/15th, press the cable release 2 times, you have 2/25ths or 1/12.5th. Need 1/8th, press 3 times 3/25ths or 1/8th. Need 1/4 press 5 times or go to B and listen to your Nikon FM shutter at 1/4 a few times. You get the idea. It can do just about everything our modern whiz-bang ones can, it just takes a little problem solving skill.
I never got to make pics with this but the image on the glass looks beautiful! Very subtle and classy in it's softness with a beautiful sharp core. Stop it down and it gets as sharp as any 1906 Brownie ever was! How about $185 and I'll ship it in USA. $195 and I'll ship it most places over-seas.
