I bought a lot of used gear in 2016, and included was this 127 roll of Tri-X 400. I shot the roll at 25 ISO, using the decade/stop rule. Now I'd like to develop this roll using D76, and IlfoFixer. I remember seeing once this Tri-X formula is different than the current one, so any help on this would be appreciated!
I shot my Tri-X 400 from 76/78 period at 200asa and developed it in a modern Promicrol developer and they came out great but I would have used D76 if I had some made up, go down the list and the old and best B&W film ever made the original Tri-X 400 is listed.
I processed some decades-expired TX400 recently and did n+0.5 or so development. n+1 is the most I would do. Contrast was fine, but it seemed like there was some base fogging.
hey candoblue
i haven't ever used d76 i can't recommend times for d76 but i can suggest you
poke around apug googling " hc-110 + expired film " some people love
developing expired film in that stuff ... me? i use dektol ( the paper developer ) ..
caffenol-c ( straight up or with a little dektol in it ) or ansco 130 / caffenol c with ansco130 in it
i'd dilute the dektol or ansco 1:6 and develop it for about 6 minutes
1 min/10sec:1min.
sprint film developer has a chart on their website
for films that are expired and it works well too ...

My technique is over-expose by a stop and then develop in Caffenol CH(RS) for 15 minutes at 20 deg. C. Since you've hit it with so much more light try pulling the dev time some, maybe 10 -12 minutes to start. I shoot a lot of this stuff and it's perfectly fine at 100 - 200 asa; personally I think that "decade/stop" rule is more for films that are more than 60 years old and unlikely to work anyway (old Verichrome, NOT Verichrome Pan, comes to mind.).
