120 / 135 film processing Denver

Hey All,

In about a month I will be visiting some friends in Denver/Colorado. I was reading about x-ray and undeveloped films through airports, so I was hoping I could have some of my C-41 and E-6 stuff developed in Denver. Any recommendations on shops that develop 120/135? I think I will be staying in Littleton, but driving into Denver isn't a problem.

And any recommendations on shops that sell 120 film format in Denver is also very welcome.

Thanks a million, Derek! The exact place I'm looking for, need to do some printwork too

Btw. I will be there for a short week probably, if you have any nice areas you can recommend for nature pictures or any nice scenery. I picked up two Mamiya 7's last week with a 43mm and 65mm and can't wait to shoot some rolls in the Denver area.

I can second Pro Photo. They do excellent c-41 and e-6, usually 2-3 hour turn around.

I as far as impressive spots to shoot nature, if you have good ground clearance, Trail Ridge Roadis open early this year. It's the road used in the openings of The Shining. Pretty stuff.

How far can you travel from town? I have several suggestions, some close, some far.

Very Close:
Jefferson County Open Spaces That's the county you will be staying in.

Sorta close:
Dead Link Removed
Brainard Lake Recreation area

Close but could be more than a day trip:
Rocky Mountain National Park

Any of those should keep you plenty busy. Have fun and I hope you enjoy your stay in Colorado.

If you don't want to drive and just need film developed, Englewood Camera does good work as well. I've had 120 and 135 done there. They are right next to Littleton: http://englewoodcamera.com/.

Denver Pro Photo does do great work as well, so I heartily recommend them!

As for scenic places... right in the area is Dead Link Removed and Dead Link Removed (not free, but beautiful).

You could drive for about 30 minutes to Mount Falcon (free) which is a Jeffco open space with awesome views of the front range, including Denver, and features old mansion ruins.

Another possibility is to drive out US Route 6 west into the mountains. This features spectacular canyons and river scenery.

Don't forget Red Rocks Amphitheater! Not only is it an awesome concert venue, but there is really nice hiking in the park.

If you want to drive, head down to Colorado Springs (about an hour down I25) for Garden of the Gods and stuff to do around Pikes Peak.

if you're in Littleton, Englewood Camera is right there on Broadway between Littleton Blvd and Orchard. It will save you some running around. They still process in house and do a good job. They also have a nice selection of used cameras and darkroom stuff.

Edit - Oops. I see Toro-Mike beat me to it.

One of my favorite spots is Daniels Park, just a few miles from my house and an easy 1/2 hour south of Littleton. This lies along a ridge facing west with a spectacular, sweeping view of the mountains stretching all the way from Long's Peak to Pike's Peak, about 100 miles. (It overlooks both Roxborough and Chatfield parks in toro_mike's post) Great place for pics both at sunrise and sunset, but worth a stop any time of the day. There is a several-hundred acre Bison enclosure too.

Another almost-secret place is Bluff's Regional Park in Highland's Ranch. It hides behind a super-target, but a 20-minute walk to the top the hill will award you with the best view that you will find overlooking the entire Denver metro. It's really the extreme north end of the same ridge that Daniel's Park is on. The mile-high city is actually situated in a pretty deep bowl with the prairie to the east being a good 1,500+ ft higher.

Many thanks for all the replies on the scenery in and around Denver! I will get back on this thread in a couple of weeks. Flying into Atlanta today and then traveling up to Washington DC and then pick up a flight to Denver.
