11x14 portrait lens

I just got this lens yesterday and I would like to know if anyone knows anything about it.
It is a Haykeye Portrait Rapid Rectilinear 11x14 The Robert Dempster Co. Sole Agents Des Moines No. A55. This is the ingraving on the lens. The front filter threads are bent but the glass looks good and it cleaned up very nicely. It is cut for waterhouse stops. I thought I would try it on my 8x10. I'm going to make some stops for it but thought I would shoot it wide open and see what I get. Any comments from the lens guru's would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that particular lens, but RR's typically aren't soft focus. Definitely give it a try on you 8x10 wide open. Post your results... Good luck!

I imagine that the lens is rebranded by Robert Dempster, who I assume to be a photographic store in Des Moines. As a "Portrait Rapid Rectilinear" it is probably f6 and perhaps 18-20".

As Kerik noted, RRs, if well made, should be relatively sharp and contrasty.

Hey Jim, did you ever test this one? I have one similar on the way and am curious as to what your experience was. I want to shoot it on 8x10 but can use with my 5x7 back if necessary.

No, Iv'e been very busy at work the last several weeks and weekends. I'm going to try to shoot some film this weekend and get an image posted asap.
