He was one of my teachers at NYU. A very affable guy, much given to shooting the breeze. He used Leicas then, and I've been assuming it's an Xpan he's been using for his panoramic shots, but I haven't measured the frames.

Looking back at the borders, you're probably right about the Xpan.
