I suspect the reason for the above suggestion from Kodak to presoak sheet films developed in trays has to do with the concern that adding developer to a dry tray can result in the film floating on top of the developer for the first few seconds, which results in uneven developer-film contact...
KodakAlaris isn't being sold.
The UK Pension authorities who effectively own KodakAlaris have instructed KodakAlaris to try to sell (for a sum deemed sufficient) that portion of KodakAlaris' business that we here are most interested in - the film, colour photographic paper and...
I saw those stickers. There were also older ones a while back from Kodak.
I was just talking with an ebay seller who sells film as a small business and uses first class mail. He said that when he asked at his local post office, they told him that if anything, the labels most likely increase the...
...under controled conditions
And yes, this makes for another issue that film photography may not be taken into consideration.
KodakAlaris now has PDF files of NEW stickers for use when shipping film.
link is on THIS page: ->...
in that case i am glad to be corrected !
sorry for seemingly sending you down the garden path BSP. the no pre-wet recommendation i was working off of was
20 years old and older .. they *used to* say just go directly into the developer without a pre wet.
i'm glad Ian C is on the job, the...
This is all I could find regarding XTOL and soaking in water prior to development in the Kodak-Alaris PDF J=109, page 3, left column:
“Agitating Sheet Film in Trays
Presoaking sheets in water yields more even development, especially when multiple sheets of film are processed together. Even a...
Good to see someone has full confidence in the system. Not what i have been through, but this is also Africa, India, Arabian airports. We can hope some kind of general rule will be applied to film handling at airports, yet what bothers me is lack of consistency, proven cases of individual agents...
I know directly from KodakAlaris that they are using for their films shipping by airplanes / airfright instead of shipping by ship for several months now.
To be faster. Because of the huge film backorders they have globally. Air cargo is handled differently compared to passenger flights.
Just...
There's a J-39 publication on KodakAlaris website listing time and temperature for trays and drums.
Here's a link.

Yes I have had explained the possible reasons here, see post 54:

So far there is no official statement from Fujifilm.
I have discussed that topic several times with my Fujifilm contacts. They have listened very attentively...
...convenient for individual users.
There aren't a lot of commercial processing labs left, but the ones that are left are both important to KodakAlaris' business and exacting customers with respect to quality and predictability of results.
I'll let you decide what the likelihood is of Kodak...
...developing old films at cold temps to control age fog, using HC-110 well beyond the official expiration date, etc etc.
Hopefully KodakAlaris didn’t dismiss the *true* appeal of HC-110 to its fan base when they switched formulas. Because really, under normal conditions just use D-76 or...
...negative films being affected.
The current films now have a new, much more shiny type of backing paper which appears to have solved the problem.
What is the Batch number and Develop Before dates for your film?
The email to use to contact KodakAlaris about your film is: Profilm@Kodakalaris.com
Cool, thanks.
When I heard and saw the switch I headed down to my local supplier and nabbed the last bottle of the old stuff. Should keep me going for another 4-5 years.
...reference to others to treat the new formulation the same as the old.
Cholentpot,
I just received word from Michael Seaberg at KodakAlaris. Here’s what he wrote:
Hello,
HC-110 has a new formula with the same great results! The bottle contains a liquid concentrate which is less thick...
...was whether this bottle contained HC-110 as a concentrate or as a stock solution. Extensive google searches weren’t helpful nor was the KodakAlaris Data Sheet. Neither were calls to Samy’s, B&H, or KodakAlaris (haven’t replied yet). Finally, I spoke to the wonderful people at Freestyle who...
Exactly. I hope Fuji and Ilford will also conduct tests and make requests in their respective areas. I think Japan will still be friendly to film photographers - whenever I insist on a hand check they do do it. Haven't seen these scanners yet at any airport, but who knows if they'll be...
...scanners will be operational at 145 airports in the US. CT scanning technology has been used for checked luggage for many years, and KodakAlaris and Eastman Kodak have warned photographers not to check their film, but rather to carry it on and request it be hand-checked by TSA agents at...
This was posted to Kodak Alaric’s twitter account and their Facebook.

Kodak goes into more details in the FB post.
Found here, including a direct link to Facebook posting:
https://www.diyphotography.net/kodak-posts-advisory-on-how-to-travel-with-film-through-new-airport-ct-scanners/
"At the moment, the US airports which currently implement CT scanning technology are the same seventeen as those reported in...
Lauffrey, I can not find this on the Alaris web site. Are you suggesting "Kodak Professional" on Instagram is an official Kodak entity or perhaps an one individual's facebook page. - Not disbelieving but not really believing either, yet.
I must admit I am surprised, seeing their past information policy, to read this explicit warning by Alaris
I wonder when Alaris will update their technical sheet from last October.
The link I posted is still working, but I do not find the link anymore at their site.
Kodak themselves still...
...done all three. Grain was big.
If you want it as visible as possible - scan.
For me way to get huge grain now is current TMAX 3200. Even at ISO 800 and in TMAX developer it is mostly grain than image:smile: Ilford, no, Emulsion like Kentmere 400 gives less grain @3200 than this KodakAlaris...
Sorry but I can't see where that pdf gives any info regarding minimum amounts of stock for a film, it just says what you normally dilute it at. I know I've seen this in a datasheet somewhere. The only thing I can find is on J78 which says:
"You can develop one 135-3 roll (80 square inches) in...
...recommendations in the appropriate datasheet, and do the necessary arithmetic.
The D-76 datasheet isn't linked to on the current KodakAlaris website, which tells me that they are probably updating it. The website still has a link to this chart - E103CF - which does list capacity information...
I’d love to get copies of any of the non-J-109 XTOL publications anyone has. I do have multiple versions of J-109 on my website if anyone needs them. I need to update it for the newer Alaris stuff...
