whele he opened his last movie in 100 IMAX theaters.so he needs 100Prints. 24 frames a second, time 120Minutes so
172800 frames each 15 perfs long and 70mm wide. each foot of film has 64 perfs.
so his order proably chews up 3 master rolls of 5383
does Alaris order that many master rolls of...
I contacted KodakAlaris and got a very quick response with the possible reason. They are sending me replacement films as well - fantastic customer service!
Or buy 400 feet/ 120 meters of 5294, respool it yourself and pay 7.50 Euros per roll. That's 80 rolls for the price of 20. It depends on how badly you want it.
It's been at about 28-29EUR for a while now (at least half a year).
But, yeah, lets check back in 2025 and see if the price is 35 EUR. I'd bet against it.
In the meantime, buy respooled Kodak 5294 for 20 EUR. You are helping the manufacturer of the film (EK) and sending a message to Alaris at...
Kodak have priced themselves out of the European market. I'd use T-Max films if I could justify it, but I just can't. It's three times as expensive as Foma and almost twice as expensive as Delta. In large format, it's even more expensive than that.
...both offer excellent resolution (with both there is no sacrifice of sharpness and resolution in favour of fine grain).
But unfortunately KodakAlaris is at least here in Europe demolishing their sales by too high prices. I know the sales numbers. TMX: It is shocking, they have become...
...as the brand they have a license to use: Ilford.
Tri-X is owned by Eastman Kodak, and the marketing and distribution rights are owned by KodakAlaris - the brand is unlikely to go anywhere.
And the huge entity that was the Kodak in the UK - Kodak Limited, the second largest in the world, is...
...to replace X-ray everywhere, which accounts for many Security personel still citing the old 'flm safe' axiom that applied only to X-ray.
KodakAlaris did warn in 2022 that the new TSA CT scanners WILL damage unprocessed film...
...And they were probably manufactured by different entities.
The B&H illustration on that listing is ancient, because it still shows KodakAlaris on the label. That isn't uncommon for B&H.
Here is the listing for the current Kodafix product, which is probably what B&H will send you if you...
KodakAlaris is and was much more likely to have at hand wide ranging international photographic still film marketing and distribution experience than Kingswood is.
Kingswood is much more likely to have at hand experience with respect to access to financial capital than KodakAlaris is.
Lack of...
I'm a business dolt, Matt. So, pls correct me if I'm wrong (you will!). So, Kingswood now owns the "the marketing and distribution business for Eastman Kodak," as you say. But not the actual production of film? is that it?
In any case, the new boxes may be a result of this new owner of the...
No.
The UK Pension Protection agency sold all the shares in the corporation named KodakAlaris to Kingswood Investment Management.
So KodakAlaris, which is the entity that has the marketing and distribution business for Eastman Kodak still films, which was owned as a shareholder investment by...
Alaris sold Kodak to an Los Angeles hedge fund

...rely on kids that want something weird, same goes for Cinestill stuff.
I use Kodak color negative still films (Portra and Ektar) because they amazing. I don't want light piping from polyester base, I want to support KodakAlaris.
Not looking for an argument, I type with one finger on an...
I can say with a fairly high level of confidence that the United Kingdom Pension Protection Fund - who were the owners of the shares in KodakAlaris - never paid much attention to how the boxes look.
And I sincerely doubt that the venture capital fund that now owns those shares will be paying...
I don't like the new Ektar colour scheme (why would the punchiest film get the most boring colour?), but the boxes at l(e)ast look like they were made in 21st century. Maybe Alaris figured that they don't necessarily need to play the retro card any more?
Anyway, Kodak are the only one making...
It seems that Kodak had changed recently the design of their film boxes:
I suppose a decision made by KodakAlaris, who is responsible for marketing, distribution and sales of all Kodak photo films.
Hm, honestly I am not convinced by this move: Some boxes look quite boring, much too simple...
Yes, Velvia 100 is in production. The US is not such a big market anymore for positive film (that was told to me by KodakAlaris at Photokina fair when Ektachrome E100 was introduced).
...all the problems with Kodak paper availability in Europe started before Tetenal's financial problems.
It has been a major problem with KodakAlaris capability to serve the paper market in Europe for a longer time, completely independent from Tetenal. That was also admitted at that time by...
...chemistry from Tetenal (as long as Tetenal was in operation), wanted to buy Kodak paper as well, but that was not possible because first KodakAlaris could not deliver (regularly) anymore, and later Sino Promise could not deliver.
These labs have all switched to Fuji RA-4 paper, and to Fuji...
Finally I solved the mystery, after rounds and rounds of testing, changng chemistry, changing light box, changing process timing, the culprit turns out to be bad film.
Bought Portra 400 from "柯达产品经营部" and the result is perfect. After so much hassle, I got the long sought-after Portra look!
The...
Correct - although it turned out that Eastman Kodak was the entity that the rights reverted to, after Sino Promise went under. It was they who made the choice who to re-license them to.
And it is Eastman Kodak who has the production line that produces the control strips that can be used in...
Either the manufacturers set up their own distribution network, incur all the related costs, invest in all the necessary resources, and raise their selling price accordingly, or ...
The manufacturers sell at a lower price to wholesalers, who cover all that overhead themselves, and re-sell the...
...to do with it.......😉
Eastman Kodak got rid of its photochemical segment in their chapter 11 crisis, and that segment was then part of KodakAlaris.
But KodakAlaris wasn't able to run it economically and sold it, together with the RA-4 paper business, to Sino Promise Holdings, China.
And...
Lucky you! I asked my local shop in Ireland, and they ordered 4 boxes of 120 Provia 100f for me ... that was over a year ago, and they have not received any stock and the Fujifilm Irish rep says "do not bother waiting"! So I have to go via the mail order retailers mainly in Germany. I got...
