    There is a Looooong discussion about this here on APUG! These are a mix of acutance (sharpness enhancing) dyes and speed trimming dyes to make the film perform the same from batch to batch. They vary in color from mfgr to mfgr due to emulsion speeds and other factors. They are harmless. PE

    ...the negative or slide from heat more than anything else. The UV absorber may go above or below the negative or slide, but is best placed above the slide. These two items are there to protect the original from excessive harmful radiation as well as to provide trimming action for the light. PE

    ...this in extrusion hopper coating that is called a comet. It looks like one of them. However, this film is slide coated and comets do not usually form. In fact, they have a very strict QC program that looks for these and removes them by trimming properly. You may want to contact Kodak. PE

    ...as I've said. In fact, using R/G/B filtration will dampen this out by reducing all exposures to a common denominator by effectively 'truncating' or 'trimming' the film dyes and the spectral sensitivities of the papers concerned. So, we may be comparing apples to oranges in a sense. PE

    Any one ever have this Problem with COT 320

    Just FYI, after 30+ years coating, I have trouble with COT320 and cannot tell which is the right surface with 100% accuracy. Also, I use my coating blades to apply the emulsion. PE
