lomo and FPP are just cutting repackaging the same base film that is being packaged under the Kodak Alaris logo. Cinestill has always done a cut and repack of what film they can find on the open market. FPP DOES make a big habit of searching the world for large lots, think shipping container...

Well, Kodak Alaris is privately held, by the UK Pension Protection authorities. So "uncle" might sound a bit different. I don't know that there will ever be a "normal" again - where photographic film product prices are affected in the same way and to the same extent as the items that are priced...

220 was a niche but necessary product in a few ways. Back when Kodak killed it 220 was a big part of a movement in the wedding/portrait world who were embracing film in a big way. They were shooting Contax, Hasselblad, and Pentax 645 cameras and having 32 frames per roll throughout a series of...

To do so Kodak Alaris would have to sell them big rolls of Portra 400. I do not see a point for them doing so.

Theres an explanation in the article below about what the sino promise manufacturing capabilities are; - paper slitting and finishing in Xiamen since buying the business from Alaris in 2015 but they import the bulk paper rolls from Carestream, Windsor US, formerly Kodak healthcare. Sino Promise were already the largest volume distributor of Kodak Alaris photographic product in the world before they completed the purchase. They sold mostly in the markets like Aisa which don't get as much attention here on Photrio. I think we here on Photrio don't understand and appreciate...

I do not know whether the Lomography film that appears to come from Eastman Kodak comes through Kodak Alaris, but it wouldn't surprise me. As confusing as it is, it seems that despite the nominally different corporate hierarchies, the bit of Alaris that sells the film and the bit of Kodak that makes the film operate extremely closely together. If one looks at the financial report (which I linked above), it seems that the only division where they make money is the film business due to price increases and demand. The rest of Kodak Alaris is actually losing money if I'm interpreting the report correctly.

Eastman Kodak had no involvement with the transaction. Eastman Kodak had nothing to do with that business since it was acquired by Kodak Alaris as part of the bankruptcy settlement. I haven't studied Kodak's financial statements, but isn't it the purpose of a publicly-traded company to make a profit? And is that profit now more than it has been in the past? They are not in the business of providing film for your enjoyment, they are in the business of making money.

...Kodachrome slides, early Christmas slides he was using 25B flash bulbs that were a dime each, (silver dime is about $1.80) photography was not cheap. We are definitely seeing price hikes, everything is more expensive. I suspect that Kodak and Kodak Alaris are looking to make a healthy profit.
