I am Yalcin Savas from Turkey. In recent years, I have been based in Ankara, the capital city. Although I love analog photography, I had to pause it for a while because of the ever-increasing costs caused by the high inflation in my country. I still use DSLRs and, until very recently, I used manual-focus AI and AI-S lenses on my digital bodies. But I can no longer use them effectively. Whether because of my eyes or the modern focusing screens, I do not know exactly, but I can no longer focus them precisely by eye on my recent cameras.
So I have “modernized” my equipment with Nikon AF-D lenses. I also own more modern AF lenses, but whenever conditions permit, I still prefer the smaller AF-D ones. As is obvious, I also cannot leave optical viewfinders behind and follow the mirrorless revolution.
I am not sure whether I will return to 35mm film, but I will certainly practice large-format photography someday, especially for landscapes.
In recent years, I have mostly focused on two projects: artisanal fishers and olive trees.
I wish everyone good photography.
