This is valuable information for those who use Pirate for their shipments
I have been using Pirate Ship for over a year and have sent several packages through them with no problem.
Then a UPS shipment was lost. The semi truck had a horrible accident, destroying all of its cargo , including my lens sold and on its way to the buyer, detroyed 100%
I contacted UPS and was told that, because it was their fault, all packages in the Semi will be awarded claims and a full refund will follow.
I called and was told how to put in my claim, but it was too complicated.
On my second call seeking help, the person from UPS claims department told me I did not have a claim, that the other agent made a mistake, and, because I bought the label from Pirate, I needed them to file the claim for me.
Pirate has no support, there is no phone number to call, and no AI assistant.
It is impossible to file a claim.
I refunded the buyer the full amount, lost the money, and the lens.
Pirate is not worth it.
I will deal directly with the shipping companies from now on.
I advise you to do the same.

Here is what I see on their site:

This is good general advice... buying goods or services via a 3rd party always carries far greater risk. There could be some amount of money saved, but when there is a problem, that money saved may end up costing quite a lot more.

Pirate ship uses third-party shipping insurance. I have had to make a claim on there before, and it was a fairly straightforward process. If you click on the shipment that was affected, and go down underneath the map, you will see how much you paid for shipping, as well as how much carrier liability is included, and how much additional insurance you bought. Under there, there is a link to file a claim, click on that, and you’ll be taken to the third parties website, at which point you file the claim with them.

I will try your advice and will report the results here.
But, even if it works, to me, it does not make sense to save a couple of bucks to have to go through all this stuff.
Thanks for the info and advice

Well, regardless of if you go through the shipper or a third-party, you’re still going to have to go through the same process. I’ve actually had to do it through UPS, USPS, and pirate ship. They were all pretty much the same, just on different websites. Filing an insurance claim just kind of sucks in general, and I’m sorry you have to go through it, but it’s just a fact of life when you shipped this much stuff that eventually you’re going to have to file a claim.

I used then several times a few years ago when PAYPAL made them their sole shipping service. I found their on-line shipping services tailored to businesses, not to individuals. Small fries like me were an afterthought. I was so glad when PAYPAL showed them the door. Their new service is SOOOOO much better.

Thread title expanded a bit, and thread moved into the Classifieds discussion area because it isn't actually a listing.

I don’t think PayPal has ever used PirateShip, they used Ship Station for a long time (which I absolutely hated, why I moved to PirateShip), maybe that’s who you’re thinking of? I haven’t actually tried the new service yet, although I might give it a go if it’s not horrible like ship station was.

You're right, it was SHIPSTATION. I hated SHIPSTATION so much, I switched to PIRATESHIP, but I hated that too!!!

As a seller, If you use eBay to get your shipping label like UPS and you get into a problem like I did.
UPS will claim the same : Not responsible...ask Ebay. Impossible to get refunded !
