Hello all,
I just had new batteries for my Metz flash installed and they fully charge. I seem to have lost the sync cord btw. this unit and my Hasselblad. I know the Camera end of the cord needs to be a Male PC cord, but I cannot find what i need for the Metz side? Here is what the Metz socket looks like. I* did look in the archives of Photrio and did not find my answer first.
This flash has 2 sockets on the 'stem' of the unit. 1 is for the external input tool, the other, I believe, is for the sync cord. Please correct me if you know.
thank you

The photo shows the POWER input, from an external battery pack, for example.
The sync cord for the Metz is a multi-flat-contacts cable, while power comes in via 3/4 round pin connection. This PC cord is from an older Metz (45CT4); as I am not familiar with the 76MZ, I cannot say with certainty if the same kind of cord works in your flash.

Thank you.
The "handle" of the flash has two similar looking sockets, one on each side. The one on the left is currently taken up/used by the Control Unit for the flash, the other side is empty (in first Photo).
If the socket in the original photo i sent is for an external battery for extended life, where does the Flash sync cord plug into? Do I sacrifice the control unit for the flash sync cord instead?

Show us the "Control Unit" please.
I'm mostly familiar with other Metz models, but what I think you mean by a "Control Unit" is the module that connects by wire to a dedicated hot shoe unit - with the hot shoe unit being one of many choices, each of which is dedicated to a particular TTl enabled hot shoe.
If your camera is not TTl capable - like a Hasselblad 501cm - then all of that is replaced by a relatively simple cord like the one shown by @wiltw .

The user manual for the 76MZ mentions the 'standard foot 301 for simple flash synchronization' (i.e. not dedicated TTL flash automation via a hotshoe. Looking at photos the 301 does not appear to have a means to connect a PC cable.

The Metz G15 appears to connect to an SCA module customized to a brand, it the G15 comes with provision to plug in a PC cord connection, that appears to be similar to the photo that I posted earlier.

SCA modules that work with Hasselblad are Hasselblad branded, and do not come with Metz brand name.

Thank you.

This is the control Unit.

ok, maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Does anyone know the name of the flash sync cord plug that plugs into this (sorry) "Thing?
One end needs to be a PC Male (for Hasselblad camera).
The other end, for the Metz, is tiny apparently. Just an unlabeled small hole in the side. pen tip shown for scale.

Thank you, that looks like an old "walkman" headphone plug. I'll test it with a spare headphone I have to see if it fits.

Also-if you're in the states, I learned today that B&H photography will have a free video consult with anyone about anything photographic, anything at all. I had a great 20 minute video call with "Gary" today. He knew my flash unit and walked me through what B&H could sell me to remedy the issue. He suggested a $14 connector he assured me would work, too. Thank you all for your time, I appreciate this community of experience and knowledge.

Report back on your findings; useful knowledge to file away.

Ok- in case another person has this issue, here is the flash cord needed to connect a Metz 76 M to a Hasselblad 500 series camera.
“PC Male to hot shoe” and it looks like this. Works great!
Thanks again guys.
