Mamiya 6 and 7 are going for big bucks today, too. Plus, I understand that they can be difficult or impossible to repair.

I paid $2800 for mine with 3 lenses, recently CLA'd. There are absolutely shops that service them. These days, every camera is difficult to repair. It's a growing problem.

Scanning is an entirely different discussion.

The key is to go to camera club meetings and bide your time until someone mentions that they really need to get rid of a Hasselblad outfit. Then strike when 5he seller is at his weakest! 🤨🤑

I can be if you shoot B&W and buy a Japanese TLR.

€10 a roll of B&W film? Is it affordable for you?
I'm not sure you wouldn't miss focus with a TLR without a pentaprism.
I would rather recommend a rangefinder, such as the Agfa Super Isolette or the Iskra.

I'm not sure if anyone is serious anymore. But if you balk at the price of film, you probably don't print anyway. Why not just go digital?

Did I mention anywhere that it's not affordable for me? Mehguy complains about this.
Ektachrome hurts but I have no other choice, because I love transparency projected on 2.5 x 2.5 meter screen.

The current price of Ektachrome is nothing compared to what the price of gasoline/petrol is going to be in this country, near future. That might be good since I'll stay home more and play in my darkroom. 😆

By no stretch of the imagination is the Holga in the same league as a Hasselblad. Sorry.

I assumed he was joking, but maybe not.

I love the Holga for the particular look it gives me and I've been using it a lot lately for a specific project I'm working on, but it's no Hasselblad.

No worries, between N. American oil, gas and alcohol we'll be fine! Iowa generates more than enough wind energy to take care of everything in the state and more.

Besides old school Hasselblads don't require Data Centers, just slide the film into a sleeve and file it. Low carbon baby! Reuse, Recycle those Swedish/German masterpieces!! 😊

I agree with what you say, but wind power is out since those big windmills stop the wind.😉

I can relate to this.

I used to shoot with a Hasselblad 501 and currently use the X2D II. From what I’ve seen, prices for V-system gear have definitely been rising, especially for well-kept kits.

A few years ago it was much easier to find good deals. Now even basic bodies and lenses seem to hold strong value.

I guess more people are coming back to medium format film, which keeps the demand high.

Curious how others see it.

I am quite familiar with the Rolleiflex 6008. I have a very complete kit, the optics, ergonomics and ease of use are excellent. Besides the extra weight of the Rollei (battery, motor drive) my interest in the Hasselblad (beyond the Hasselblad mystique) is for a completely mechanical, repairable camera. My fear with the extensive Rollei gear I have is it all becoming inoperable due to aging electronics and lack of support.

The unreliability of electronics and the myth of mechanical reliability are both myths. In reality, it's quite the opposite. The lack of moving parts makes electronics very reliable. Lack of use is the biggest enemy of mechanical cameras;grease dries up andcamerasstop to function.Finding competent repair technicians for old cameras becomes a serious challenge.

I love my Blads, the 500 c/m and esp. the astonishing 903 SWC. They've become an extension of how I see the world, or maybe vice-versa or maybe both.

But with all this talk about Mamiya 7 (incredible camera but I could never bond with it) and the Rollei 6008i (maybe the best film camera ever made but I returned it in 2 days since it was way too heavy), the 1 camera I (sort of) regret not keeping was the Rollei SL66. That, too, was just too heavy. But, wow, what a camera. When he finally could move from a TLR to a SLR after the death of his friend Victor Hasselblad, Reinhold Heidecke poured into the SL66 all those great ideas he had stored up. What a camera....

It sort of reminds me of my 2nd all-time favorite camera, the Nikon FM3a. The FM2 and the FE2 are both terrific cameras but with just a few quirks. The FM3a just completely nailed it. All incremental improvements, but, if you use the other cameras, you just appreciate how the FM3a achieved perfection. With the exception of its weight, which for me was a deal-breaker, that's what the SL66 was over the Blad, IMHO.

I bought a 503CW and 80mm CFE from ProCamera in 2019 . I was curious and looked up its price adjusted for inflation and it’s way lower than what they actually sell for these days, around 30% less.

These days I much prefer a Rolleiflex. But for whatever reason I’ve taken a lot more meaningful photos with the Hassy.

People mention that Hasselblads need regular maintenance. Mine has been perfect, other than a light seal on the film back needing to be replaced.
