Fellow photographers,

I purchased a used Technal 500 and the pin/screw that connects the rear metal arm to the end of the top bar was missing on each side. The pin/screw I'm referring to goes through the side of the handle arm then through the metal strut/bar and finally into the side of the top metal bar with the know that adjusts downward pressure. I measured the hole and a 1/4" x 1.25" screw fits in the hole perfect, but does not allow the top arm to swing forward fully.

If someone here that owns one would be so kind as to remove this pin/screw and post a picture, I'd appreciate it! I need to find a replacement for both sides. there is a small set screw that locks this "missing" pin/screw in place.

Thanks!

Dan

Hey there,
Mine is labeled as a Bogen, pretty sure they're the same a pin not a bolt. 1/4 " small end 3/8" inner diameter c-clipped in two places.

Thanks for the diagram. Is the top handle supposed to rotate all the way down to the front of the press? With my makeshift screw (1/4” x 1 1/4”) the top handle stops roughly directly overhead at 12:00

Should go all the way down and lock flat. I think that other hardware may have been messed with???

The side pins were missing when I bought it, so I improvised with a partially threaded screw which doesn’t allow the handle to go all the way down and lock flat. I’m wondering how a pin will allow proper handle rotation unless it’s allowed to rotate?

Looks almost like your press has different hardware. Otherwise they look like similar machines. Could be someone modified to use for heat transfers, like shirts etc. Not sure 🤔
