I have one of these units, but I'm unable to use it due to the missing lid gasket. Short of buying another one of these tanks, does anyone know where I can get a suitable replacement gasket? I'd hate to have to throw the tank out just because of a missing gasket.

+1, along with gasket material from an auto parts store, just has to be thick enough to create a good seal.

The gasket with mine was somewhat of a hard but flexible plastic. Maybe 2mm thick.

Mcmaster carr has a number of rubber sheets that would work. For example this:

I used automotive gasket material of the type used for the rocker covers. Felpro part number 3157. It is a 26” x 10” x 1/32” rubber fibre sheet. I got it from rock auto. It works well.

Im going to have to try and make my own from one of your suggestions it seems, as Robert L. went AWOL a half a month ago on me. Someone suggested a gasket from a jar of some sort. Dont know if they make them that big though.

I'll measure one for you if you need that; I think I can find it.

There is a way out of this, go to your local car parts shop and buy some thin cork gasket, mark it out with a pen then cut out the desired shape. The cork gasket will make the lid water proof and resist detiriation of the gasket. If you are not good at marking it out grab a tube of lipstick and smear the end of the tank and this will leave the shape of the area to be sealed, then cut it out with a sharpe bladed tool, All the best with it, Craig Sherriff.

Thanks for bringing this up. I have a Unicolor drum that gets a lot of use and has lately been leaking very slightly, so I've been looking for materials to use to replace the seal. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Robert got a hold of me again and shipped off his gaskets he had for this drum. I received them today. Thank you Robert! They fit perfectly and have 2 extra for spares incase the one I installed starts to leak.
