Guess I might need permission also. Tried PM to George but not sure it worked. Thanks.

We can make that happen.
We have done our usual extra manual checks, and the fact that you have elected to Subscribe should, along with our efforts at this end, result in your being able to PM/Start a Conversation going forward.
If that doesn't seem to have worked, please post here.
@George Nova Scotia should also receive a heads up because of this post.
Welcome to Photrio.

not sure it worked

Did you see any errors? If it has worked, you should now have a private conversation with him, which you can access through the little envelope icon at the top right of your screen labeled 'Inbox'. There will be a list of conversations there (including one with an automated welcome message), as well as your recently opened conversation with George. If you receive any replies, it will be highlighted there.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

@George Nova Scotia is currently a bit pre-occupied with other things, so he sometimes takes a bit of time to reply.

It's a new year and a new round and I'm very, very late getting started. Thanks to those who sent reminders to me. Please join in and keep postcards alive. Sign up lasts all January. I'll send you a list of wonderful people who would like to send you postcards custom made just for you in February.

Don't believe every thing you see on the internet, digital shooters are welcome.
The FAQ and introduction documents have not been updated but for a very long time any manner of capture is permitted.
Alternate methods and processes will be appreciated. Let's see what you are up to.

Please sign up now and remember you can select the number of cards you want to send/receive.
Sign up runs the month of September, then you have two months to send and receive your cards.

OK, now the standard text, but please read on:

There are links to the FAQs and an Introduction in my signature at the bottom.

As in the previous rounds, please signup by starting a conversation with me (used to be called PM) containing your full name, address (including the country - this is an international exchange) and the number of cards you are able to send or say maximum for the maximum possible number of cards. You can also choose "ALL" you will still only receive the MAX number of cards but you will receive the complete list so you can share your work with everyone if you choose.

As in the previous rounds, if you have been in the exchange for the last couple rounds and if your address is the same, you can sign on just with giving the number of cards here in the thread. No PM needed in this case.

Important! As in the previous rounds I will post lists of participants in this thread every once in a while. If you signed in (or if you think so) please come back to this thread and check if your name is on the list. If the name should be on the list but is not, then let me know. Once the address lists are sent out early in October I can not make any changes. Also check for the number of cards behind your name.

There are a couple threads with an introduction and FAQs (check the links in my sig). Just send me a PM or ask here if you have any questions.

Please read on:

As in the previous rounds, not all participants have been able to send out the cards. For whatever reasons, if you have not fulfilled your last rounds commitment, send your cards before you sign in for this round. Just be fair. (and drop a note in the last round comments to let us know you are okay)

Now for those new to the postcard exchange, here is how it all works out.

First: It is fun!

Second: When registration is over, I will prepare address lists which I will send to the participants. You will have to send a card to every address on that list and you should receive back a card from everyone on that list. So if you join in for e.g. 20 cards you will have to send 20 cards and you should receive 20 cards back.

Third: Did I mention that it is fun? Where else can you receive cards from all over the world, different styles, different methods, different papers, and more.

George
Hi @George Nova Scotia I am also new to the exchange. Could you send me a PM so that I can sign up?

Just a note yes I am still here. I've started conversations with a couple of the new members.

Sign up will continue until Feb 3rd.

Good to hear from you! One of these days I'm going to get to Nova Scotia. I just checked it's a 27 hour drive from my place here in Iowa. That's a bit of a stretch for my back in my Subaru 😁. My Bombardier Global 6000 is being fitted with a wine cellar so it's out of service for a couple weeks.
Really appreciate your support for this exchange, terrific to make friends from all over the world!
I've actually started to work on a card for this round. I'm always amazed at the beautiful ones that I receive, photos, the universal language!!!
Take care, Best Regards Mike

I think it's only fair that we get to be the first ones to get to try the wine cellar goodies once it's finished!

Some people said I was crazy to put in a wine cellar, I don't even drink 😁 Daniela when I'm winging my way to France I'll be sure to drop by. After all France is a great place to stock the cellar ☺️

I'm with you on both of those, Daniela. Also, I just read a rather lengthy biography of Renoir, and there was a mention that he once had an apartment or a studio in Chatou. Is there any tourist place or historical marker for that?

Cheers,

-- Mark

Yes! He and other impressionists painted at the Île des Impressionnistes. There's a small museum there dedicated to them (mostly Renoir) and a little trail with reproductions where some pieces were painted by the Seine. There are a couple of restaurants, including one that existed at that time. It makes a nice place to visit for a couple of hours.
