Can anyone identify this OM sync cable? It's the only one I've seen with this type of plug.

thanks

It might be for the f280 flash

thank you! I hadn't even thought to check it but that's exactly what it is. it's only got a short flexi cord but now I can use the f280 slightly off body!

It may also be for the T32 flash.
You would use that cord with the flash shoe on an Olympus OM-2, which lacks the accessory port for the two ended cords that the OM-2S and OM-4 (and OM-3?) have.

I wondered if it was to use on an OM2, but this cord, the f280 and the OM3ti all match with a 6 pin symmetrical pattern, whereas the shoes on my OM2n and SP are all 3 pin, as is the T32, which also has the typical 5 pin flash sync cord socket.

I do have other shoe adapters for the OM2 to accept the regular 5 pin sync cord but so far I haven't figured a way to use the f280 on anything but the OM3ti...?

I've never been sure if the f280 syncs with the om3 as it would with the om3t and om4t (syncs at all speeds up to 1/2000)? Anyone know?

I think the differences relate to the F280's additional mode that, with some cameras, permits synching at more and faster shutter speeds, if one is happy with reduced shooting distances.

ok I see, so it should work fine on the OM2, on or off body, it just won't use the extra pins for faster sync capability.

I wonder then if there are longer versions of this f280-only cable..

That connector was used with any of the Olympus TTL-compatible cameras and flash units (F280), and there was a 5-pin socket shoe to permit use with T series flash units (but without TTL), and was on the TTL Auto Cord (and female sockets on TTL Auto Multi Connector). The fast flash shutter long-duration flash mode on the F280 was supported along with TTL functionality.
The OM-1n and the OM-3 both lacked TTL capability. The cord was available in 1', 2', 5' and 16' lengths

thank you for this! I'll start looking for the longer lengths.
