  1. What has become of us all?

I watched the video and was disturbed by the woman who tried to force her child into a hazardous location. One thing that bothers me about the current phenomenon is that people line up to take essentially the same photograph. They want the same photographs they have seen on social media. I have...

Have you noticed any defects with recent Fuji 400 35mm film sold at drug stores in the USA?

I haven't noticed this problem, but I don't really shoot a lot of C-41 film. I did wonder, after re-reading this thread, whether the Fuji film in question was made in Japan or the US. The US version is widely suspected to be relabelled Kodak Gold. If the film is made in the US, I would expect...
  3. Why your early 2000s photos are probably lost forever

One problem with old family photographs is that analog photographs, although extremely archival in many cases, cannot be losslessly duplicated. There is only one negative. If the originals fall into the hands of someone who doesn't like to share or doesn't take care of the materials, that...

What happens if turn iCloud on and laptop storage is smaller than stored photos on iCloud

There is no single "best" way to backup. I choose to go with a system that uses multiple back-ups of different formats in multiple locations. I use iCloud which automatically saves my iPhone images to the cloud. I have my desktop Mac set to download all the images (I now have copies on my hard...
  5. Why your early 2000s photos are probably lost forever

I suspect most serious (define that how you wish) photographers trying digital in the early days, took steps to back-up their digital images. I adopted an early habit of maintaining frequent backups. I bought a CD-R drive back when they were expensive. I now have useless ZIP disks. I still have...

What happens if turn iCloud on and laptop storage is smaller than stored photos on iCloud

Your question was quite understandable to me. A number of posters don’t seem to understand the iCloud environment and are treating it like a back-up service instead of a system which synchronizes access to photographs and documents between Apple devices ( and Windows laptops ). My only caveat...

Have you noticed any defects with recent Fuji 400 35mm film sold at drug stores in the USA?

If if is a repeatable pattern in the same location on multiple frames, I would worry about a camera issue. I can’t image how a manufacturing defect could cause such a problem. I have had similar problems with a cloth shutter camera with tiny holes in the shutter curtains.

    LEICA ELMAR 135mm f/4 (1960-1965) Ref. 11850

I own one of these. I am happy with the images. I usually use the rangefinder patch for composition, but also have a USSR external viewfinder to use. I don’t use it as often as I should, but I just find that longer length lenses work better with a SLR/DSLR.

Kodak films direct from Eastman Kodak (was: Kodacolor 100. New)

Has anyone actually seen the box? For all we know, EK has licensed this, or bought back rights, from KA. The fine print on the back of the box would tell us a lot.

Bank Americard changed its name to Visa in 1976.

This link might answer your question: https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/epson_perfection_4990.html Download the newest version. Even without a login and password, the software will let you try it out (It just prints a watermark on top of the saved image). If you purchased this in the past, the...

    I'm starting to panic

25 years ago, I was posting about $1 a shot for consumer color film, premium processing, printing, scanning and shipping. I could have used cheaper processing, but enjoyed the service I got from a premium lab. Film photography was never really cheap, especially for color. I do try to spend...

What digital camera can I use my Minolta MC and NMD lenses on natively without an adapter?

Keep in mind that although these lenses are technically SR-mount, they are often referred to as "MD-Mount" among adaptor makers.
