You're very right!
I'm struggling with this because I use two different monitors, one at work and my laptop at home. Both are calibrated but the curves are clearly different. On my laptop colours are as I want them. At work I get the greenish dominance.
Assuming that most viewers of the image...
@albireo: <I hope you don't mind me saying - but your routine seems even 'sloppier' than mine>
Haha, I don't mind at all
There is some rationale in my sloppiness
- I find the 3'15" base development time restrictively short
- At 30 degrees I can extend that to almost 9 minutes...
Using a Digital Pentax spot meter, spot on sky opposite the sun.
I've a day off and nice weather so will shoot a roll metering with two different devices
Thanks for the interesting comments :)
Yes, I agree that they are somewhat over-exposed although it was certainly not my intention. I was in a rush (and a bit lazy) and metered off the (convenient) blue sky which I accepted as neutral grey. That was my mistake I think.
I've no experience with 35mm film but I've had excellent results with 120 Portra souped in the ADOX C41 kit. I process at 30 degrees with a Heiland processor (no temperature control) and add 40 seconds for the temperature drop while developing (total time 8'40"). I blix for 7'30" and use a 5...
Did a test roll in the Adox CTEK C41. Portra 800, 120 roll on the 30 degree programme as recommended by ADOX. Results are excellent and very impressed with the kit. The chemicals are very easy to mix and the instructions are clear.
Would be nice to see it offered more widely in the UK...
Interpreting what is says from the Italian:
WASH 3 or 4 times for 45 seconds with stabilizer (presumably discarding after each wash) OR wash normally and then use the stabilizer as a final rinse.
I've done the latter and it seems to work fine.
Probably time for Bellini to update their...
I normally do follow the manufacturer's instructions:
This coming from the instruction sheet which is included with the kit.
And their processing instructions:
As always, "do what works best for you", regardless of the why & what
That's mostly pretty good advice š
FWIW: Last week I developed 15 rolls of 120 in the Bellini. The first 4 were horribly marked and I had to spend ages correcting in PS after scanning. Then I changed two things. I added a...
My experience, when agitating for 3 minutes was very negative with substantial spotting which disappeared when I changed to a dunk for 30 seconds. YMMV
At best, the Bellini instructions are confusing. A 3 minute stabilizer with agitation seems wrong and I'm not sure that this is what Bellini is...
This thread has been some marathon and it is rather old. Nonetheless, for newer users of the Bellini C41 Monopart, the following may be of use as the instructions to this date (early February 2025) are still not as clear as they might be.
Yes, you do need to wash after the fixer. This can be...
