Thanks to all for your information and suggestions, I appreciate it! Yes!... as I recall now it's free silver that has attached itself to the hangers. I'll try some of the suggested methods... I'm just trying to get the hangers more presentable and sell them...

I have a number of Kodak 8x10" film hangers that have a gray/dark gray residue on them. IIRC this is a byproduct of development and is a silver compound (silver sulfite ?) of some sort... In my dim past I seem to recall that soaking in a Potassium Dichromate solution will clean them up... Is...
Most expiration dates are from 1999-2005. Will give specific dates upon request. Frozen for most of their life, last few years at 70F, dry and in the dark. Untested and sold as-is, no guarantee of quality...it's old film. ACROS 100 tested and seems to be fine shot at EI 50 and developed...
Don't think its still manufactured but back in the day Kodak Recording Film 2475 was the grainiest commercially available film. Curly ESTAR base.
Developed in Dektol or Rodinal.
