The Makina is also not immune to issues and has commonly broken meters. I wouldn't trust the bellows system to hold up to long term use without extreme care.
True, although I've found the color shift to be fairly significant. Also c41 will give a much higher contrast compared to ECN2 since its designed to be printed on paper vs an internegative.
Cinestill is now selling ECN-2 chemistry as a standalone, I haven't tried it personally yet but I've...
It depends on what you're shooting. If it's still life, portraits or landscapes then it likely won't bother you. If you're shooting things that move around (or you are changing your distance) then it is more likely to be irritating, in my experience.
It's also how the ramping of the focus...
I've used it plenty they are just slower to focus than other cameras. There's a reason they make a little focus handle, you aren't going to get from infinity to minimum focus without repositioning your hand a few times. I'm not the first person to bring this up, it's a common observation.
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but the Hasselblad lens focus is SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
It's great that it's very precise but the throw is very long and the dampening is heavy, even more so if your lens hasn't been serviced in a while. If you need to focus with any speed at all you'll...
Film has gained back a decent amount of popularity, you can't really compare prices from 10+ years ago when no one wanted film gear. Unless film dies off for a second time they will never be that cheap again.
No, it's not anywhere as good as any Leica M body... It is what it is. Now would an M be worth the extra money? That's completely up to you. You can have a lot of fun driving a Chevy Corvair or a Porsche 911. Both would be rear engined and air cooled but one is a much better vehicle in quality...
It really just depends on if you prefer 6x6 or 6x7, or if you need more specialized focal lengths that the 7 offers. The 6x7 ratio presents better on screens and prints. It feels like a shame to crop the 6x6 and if you print full frame it will look considerably smaller.
I have both and if...
Yeah it's a terrible situation. Covid decimated my old field (live video production) and I was very lucky to find a work from home job. I have my fingers crossed that they hire me on permanently this month like they're supposed to. Where I used to work is a small business so I hope they can...
I live in CA too, our housing market is all screwed up because of a high concentration of very high paying jobs, foreign investment and a severe lack of supply. It'll be "fun" to see the effects of the inflation from the three trillion dollars we printed this year... That aside, the prices for...
Medium format anything has exploded in popularity, especially in 2020. There is a huge influx of young people shooting film (even more this year surprisingly) and all the prominent photographers on social media are all shooting medium format now. Add in the stimulus checks that gave every kid in...
Speaking of Hasselblads, one time I was out shooting my beautiful 501C and I had someone ask me if it was a Kodak Brownie... Ouch.
I'm in my early thirties, I got back into film about five years ago and shoot about 90% on film, I've got a permanent darkroom set up, prefer to buy music on vinyl...
