    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

It’s not perfect but certainly not toast. From my first test (see above), it’s usable and perfect for practicing before I start using my Ilford FP4.

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

Thank you but based on my first test (see above images), I exposed at ISO 25. The film is expired and dated 1990. I may adjust that slightly when I get round to further testing.

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I’ve been searching for a datasheet without success.

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

Did a quick test over the weekend and at least the film recorded something! Rated at ISO 25, developed in 510 Pyro with Jobo CPE2 for 6:30 at 20C

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

That’s brilliant, thank you. I searched but could not find anything relating to this film.

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

Thanks for your input. I don't believe it's TriX as we know it. It expired in 1990 and has no film speed on the box. I believe it was intended for line work and is a high contrast film but as RedSun has tried it with some success at 25 ISO, I'll probably try some at 25 ISO and develop in...

    Tri-X Ortho 4163, What Developer?

I have just acquired several boxes of Kodak Tri-X Ortho 4163, which came with a 5x4 field camera I just bought. I was beginning to think it wouldn't be of any use but the image above is quite nice. Anyway, I intend to give it a go but I only have Adox Rodinal and 510 Pyro in stock and don't...

    Long lasting developer

Thanks to all for their input. Think I’m going to try some Adox Adinol. The reason I wanted to keep clear of powders was because I thought you had to mix a stock solution, just as say a packet of ID11 which makes 1 litre. The problem with this is that it tends to go off quicker. Are there...

    Long lasting developer

I’m looking for a liquid developer with a long shelf life. By long life, I mean multiple years. I shoot mainly Ilford FP4, HP5 and occasionally Ilford Delta 3200 and also some Fuji Acros. Is there such a developer available, which is suited to normal developing and push/pull, should I ever need...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

Just a quick update. I returned the Olympus 35 SP due to tearing of sprocket holes and overlapping frames. I received my Minolta Hi Matic 7S II which is in fantastic condition and has recently been serviced. Ran a test roll through it and happy to report it’s a keeper. I love it! The light...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

Thank you to all for your input. I bought an Olympus 35 SP from a dealer with a return option. I've shot a couple of rolls over the weekend and the lens is pretty good. The rangefinder patch is not great in lower light. I also have a Minolta 7SII arriving tomorrow for comparison. I'll have...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

I think I’m going to try and find a good copy of either the Minolta Hi Matic 7SII or an Olympus 35 SP. Having read reviews, the Olympus seems to have the ever so slightly better lens (7 elements) over the Minolta (6 elements), although whether that makes a difference in results is probably...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

I am quite attracted to the Nikon S2 or Contax IIIa but they are both around £500 with lens in the UK. Anyone have experience with either of those? I understand my Kiev 4 was a copy of the Contax and the Nikon looks as though it uses a similar body to the Contax...are the Nikon and Contax...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

I don't do a lot of low light shooting but having an f1.7 lens at least allows me to indulge if I want to. I have a Pentax Spotmatic with 50mm f1.4 but when taking this out, I have a tendency to lug around my 35mm and 135mm lenses too. I can't seem to decide on one lens. My thinking is, that...

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder to use with a single lens

I don’t necessarily have a budget, my comment was referring to the difference in prices between US and UK market. There are lots of cameras to choose from but finding a good copy is the hardest part. I’ve bought cameras from eBay, which have been described as mint, only to find they are...
