If there are no pinholes I wouldn't worry about the curtains. I have many Pentax cameras of the Spotmatic and K-series eras and have never had a problem with shutter curtain pinholes, though some have a distinctly tatty appearance. Replacing the curtains would cost more than the cost of another...
A CLA should cure the problem. As F4U says, it's well known with Pentaxes of that era. They aren't difficult to work on and a half decent repair man (or woman!) should be able to go straight to the problems. It might be worth looking into before giving away the two lenses, especially if the...
Final wash in distilled/de-ionised water for me. No wetting agent as that seems to leave outlines of the water droplets after they have evaporated.

I normally load film off a 100ft roll according to what I'm about to use it for, so typically about 12exp for test purposes and about 20 - 25 for normal use. It's not an exact science, as I don't use a film loader, just a guesstimate of the film length in the dark. Unless I'm "on a mission"...
We have no kids and I'm under no illusions that the kids of the distant relations of 'Er Indoors and I would have any interest whatsoever in my photographic output of several decades. Sadly, like that of so many others, most of the material will likely become landfill along with family photos...
I've tried various supposedly trained camera repairers and with the exception of one (based in Clay Cross, Deryshire, now long since retired) all have given me cause for concern sooner or later. Hence taking an interest in repairing my own cameras myself. One Olympus-trained service technician...
I've got examples of all the Pentaxes from the Asahiflex up to the LX. More recently than the LX doesn't interest me, and I'm not totally sold on the LX. I use them all from time to time, but my favourites are the K2 and KX. My primary 'user' KX I've had for 38 years, during which time I've...
Thanks for the quick reply. The webpages you've linked to suggest that not much activity has taken place since about 2020. From my limited experience with making and uploading webpages, the hassles involved with getting the things up there/out there are only matched by the hassles of trying to...
Some years ago at a local auction I was successful bidder (actually only bidder!) on a set of A5 format publications called 'Classic Camera Magazine'. The set, such as it is, runs from number 1 to number 35 with only number 23 missing. Number 1 was dated 1988 and the magazine was published in...

It's always worth scouring ePay for the exact part you need for a camera. Some people are now dismantling cameras to be sold as individual parts rather than selling the camera as a single item. As one who used to frequent car scrap yards (in the days before elf 'n' safety put paid to that...
