I'm currently using Silverfast with my Epson v850 Pro but my frustrations with the software's bugginess, limitations and general wtf!-ness are becomming increasingly unbearable. Does anyone have any recommendations for open source scanning software? Either Linux or Windows is fine. Ideally...
Ah! Thanks for that! I did NOT realise that iSRD only worked with colour negatives. It would have saved me a lot of time if that critical little nugget of wisdom was mentioned in the app, or at least in the documentation...
I'm struggling to use Silverfast's iSRD feature. I have a rather dusty roll of 135 to scan and after physically removing as much dust as possible, I want the scanner to do it's best to remove the dust digitally. But when I enable the iSRD thing it just gives a preview with weird geometric shapes...
The ones I got were metal. These ones: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQCcKTp . They work perfectly in my Kodak Vigilant.
I read that you can just trim down the flanges on a normal plastic 120 spool, but I was worried that the larger diameter central rod would make the film extend beyond the end of...
Lovely. I totally agree about the convenience and all-round loveliness of the 6x9 folders. I would love to get my hands on Voigtlander Bessa II especially if it's got the semi-mythical apo-lanthar lens.
Having said that, I really don't mind the 620 rolls in the Kodaks. You can get the empty...
I found this lovely Kodak Vigilant six-20 (https://developerfluid.net/kodak-vigilant-six-20) in an antique shop in Lisbon. I wasn't expecting much -- the lens had fungus and I was expecting the bellows to have a few sneaky holes in them -- but I have been really impressed with the results so...
Thanks for the Exif Notes recommendation. I have used that before but I cannot remember why I didn't get on well with it and then I had forgotten about it. I'll try it again.
App.
The PC exif software is fine for updating the data on the scanned shots. The app is for capturing that data in the first place. I.e. instead of writing down in a notebook the camera, lens, film, date/time, geo-location, f-stop, shutter speed, focus-distance, subject, etc. you just pull...
I use both a 6x7 MLU and a pre-MLU a lot (I was going to say I use them "heavily" but that seemed a little on-the-nose given the weight of these beasts!). I agree with everything already said about the consequences of the mirror slap being dependent on factors such as shutter speed and (most...
Hi folks,
I've been trying to figure out a way of making the exif data on my scanned films accurate with minimal effort. I use a paper notebook and I have previous tried a smartphone app for manually entering this data; but these processes are all flawed in some way. Ideally, I want an app...
Update:
Well, I finished the roll that was in the camera and that was perfectly fine. Inspecting the rollers there is no sign of any dirt or coating or anything. Everything looks perfect.
Somebody from Harman got back to me and was incredibly helpful. But after a few back-and-forths we couldn't...
Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions folks. I have contacted Ilford and will report back here if/when they get back to me.
Sticky rollers was my first thought as well, but then the thing about rollers is that they roll.... I would expect any gunk from them to be spread on the film, not...
Re backing paper: unfortunately I ditched the paper before I detected the problem so any clue there is lost. It would be really interesting to see if there was any corresponding marks on there!
Re Instax: ... mind ... blown .... I had no idea that was possible ... or that anyone would even...
