    Ilford SFX 200 Reciprocity

Thank you all for the information. I did quite a bit of reading and it seems exposure ratings are all over the place from ei 3-12 and people meter anywhere from the deep shadows to the midtones. Looking at the old Kodak HIE, reciprocity seemed to come into play over 10 seconds. The way I read...

    Ilford SFX 200 Reciprocity

Would anyone happen to know the reciprocity characteristics of this film? I have checked the Ilford spec sheet and searched the web to no avail. I am planning on shooting with an R72 filter metering the shadows at EI 12. I would like to shoot at F/22in 35mm and F/32 in 120 so full sun exposures...

    Print Developer Questions

Having a look at the books I have, it appears increasing the bromide retards development and promotes a warmer (brownish) tone. That should override the greenish cast. I'll have to play with the amount as I would like a more neutral tone rather than a warmer one.

    Print Developer Questions

Thank you to Gerald and Doremus. I'll try doubling the bromide and see if that takes care of it. Have to make a few prints this weekend and let a friend look at the and see if the green cast is gone. I just wasn't expecting the blue tone I got with the benzo and increased carbonate.

    Print Developer Questions

For the past 10 or 12 years I have been using D-72 and been relatively happy with my prints. Recently, someone commented that the prints on Ilford MGIV and Oriental VC had a slight green cast to them. Being colorblind in reds and greens, I never noticed. Researching ways to eliminate the green...

    Arista Legacy Pro 100

I've used D-76, Sprint, Xtol, Rodinal, and Pyrocat developers and prefer Xtol. After several "sudden deaths" (one time in less than 24 hrs) I began looking for a developer with a better shelf-life. I tried Gainer's PC-Glycol but the tonalities were a little harsh for me so I decided to tinker...

2F/2F Mama didn't raise a COMPLETE fool ... :p As the dying man said "You can't take it with you ..." I did a lot of research over the past month and so many of the posts/reviews were good (none negative that I saw) that I thought it was a safe bet. All of my film, except a large...

    Arista Legacy Pro 100

Jordan, When Freestyle first started carrying Efke KB25 I bought 500 rolls because I love slow film and Agfa APX 25 was discontinued. I didn't know what I was getting but learned to control it and now I like it better than APX 25. I guess i'll be starting the learning curve all over again but...

    Kodak Photo-Flo 200 Dilution?

Just my 2 cents... I use 500 ml of distilled with 5 drops of photoflo 200. The question is what am I going to do with a gallon of photoflo 600?

    Arista Legacy Pro 100

Hi all, I'm looking for a finer-grained and sharper ISO 100 film now that I am running low. From what I have seen, I like the look of what people have been getting from Fuji Acros and wanted to give it a try. I called Freestyle today inquire about a discount for a large order and was told they...

    pH of Developer?

Thank you all so much. You have given me a lot to think about. And we seemed to have strayed a bit (happily) from the thrust of my original post. While I like the idea of a single solution (with TEA), one of my main criteria is maximum film speed and anything that might inhibit that is not very...

    pH of Developer?

PE, Looking further I see that the TEA The Chemistry Store sells has CAS# 102-71-6. When I searched the CAS# MSDS it is listed as 99-100% and is listed as colorless to light yellow but there is no mention of DEA or MEA. Am I right in assuming this is of high purity and is sufficent for...

    pH of Developer?

Are there different grades of Triethanolamine? Has anyone bought Triethanolamine from thechemistrystore.com? I see they have it rather cheap compared to Photographer's Formulary and Artcraft Chemicals. Here is the link: http://www.chemistrystore.com/Chemicals_S_Z-Triethanolamine.html BTW...

    pH of Developer?

Nworth / Gerald, I read quite a few articles on TEA and glycol which was what drew my attention to them as a preservative for the developing agents. Reading Gainer's article "Preservation of Ascorbate Developers" on the unblinkingeye website sort of sealed the deal since I had a bottle of...
