Unless you are scanning, and ready for hardcore photoshopping, 30 years old color film is a bit tricky to use. Even then, the results can be pretty bad, Ektar 25 was discontinued in 1994.
The process is pretty standard, so I don´t think there is a big difference between kits by different manufacturers. I´ve been using Foma kit, which has never failed. Bellini kit has a chemical reversal bath, if you think that re-exposure by light is hard (which it is not). I would suggest buying...
I really doubt this kit has any real stabilizer. Most likely the bath included is a final rinse similar to those used in the commercial version of C-41, consisting of surfactant and biocides preventing bacteria and fungi growing on emulsion. This should not be omitted, although real stabilizer...
Yes, CMY can create all colors of the spectrum, if the amount of light is also regulated by shutter or aperture. and the light source is neutral white, containing all the shades of visible light. This would be an ideal system for subtractive color. In reality, no system is ideal. Also, this is...
My suggestion would be trying to use prewet with water, and probably trying to add a stop bath after developing. It could help with issues with uneven developing. I had a problem with streaks developing RA-4 in tubes, and prewetting the paper solved the problem for me.
I don´t know the situation in the USA, but here in Europe. Fuji Velvia 100 in 135 format has been quite readily available for the last 8 months or so. Provia or Velvia 50 less so. There were some rumors about Velvia 100 not being sold in the USA because of some US environmental regulations. Is...
I normally cut the whole roll into sheets at the same time, and put them into boxes. I just use the box with the most curled sheets the last. After months in my freezer, they will be almost straight.
There have been baryta (fiber based) color papers, but this was well before the RA-4 process was invented. It is the most recent of all commercial processes now used, as it replaced the earlier EP-2 only in mid-1990's. EP-2 was invented in 1974. and became the standard in few years after that...
Could you post a picture of the slides having orange cast here?
Is it possible that you have put film in the film holder wrong way, and exposed it through the base?
There is a small radiator in my bathroom-darkroom, with a small, red LED, which is on, when the heating element on the radiator is on. I forgot to switch it off when loading film in tank. The LED went on, and about one half of the roll was green after developing. This was of course color...
I know what is meant by "digital balanced", but I wonder, has there ever been any color paper, at least since the days of EP-2, that was really optimized for enlarging. The reason for my doubt is that practically all pictures made in commercial labs, excluding those made manually with enlargers...
I personally did not use Kodachrome very often, the reason being you couldn´t process it yourself. And that was what I wanted to do. Only exception for this was Super8 movie film.'
I lived in Finland as a child and teenager (not in Lithuania, when it was occupied by the Soviets), and I recall...
