What Films Would You Like To See Kodak Re-Introduce Again? And why?

I guess it makes sense that those who believe one can tell the difference between two things that science isn't able to distinguish from each other would dislike a publication that it so highly rated for being based on science. :)

    Www.largeformatphotography down for the count?

No. The server and bandwidth have for decades been provided at no cost by Brian Reed. Many have offered to make donations but the site has always elected not to accept them and continue as is. Bots are severely testing its ability to do so.

Speed difference between Acros II, TMX, and Delta 100 at same CI?

It seems very unlikely that Kodak made any special holder for John. Too much effort; any improvement(s) could be expected to have been incorporated into production units. What it did do, however, was provide him with Readyload packets containing emulsions that were not offered commercially in...

Speed difference between Acros II, TMX, and Delta 100 at same CI?

Yup. With roll film, I aim for N-1/2, enabling pleasing prints despite varying subjects of different luminance ranges on the same roll. ISO test conditions are irrelevant to me. Real world conditions are what counts.

Speed difference between Acros II, TMX, and Delta 100 at same CI?

Reports of Pan F Plus' curve's S-shape and limited luminance range are, in my experience, exaggerated. The below trial (horizontal is Zone, vertical is gross density) was exposed at EI 25, resulted in fb-f of 0.25, EI 25, CI=.50 and Dmax on the fully exposed leader of 1.77. It's got a very...

    Fomabrom Variant III Emulsion Flaking

More than six weeks later, how'd the replacement paper fare?
  7. Individual purchases from sellers in Canada... anyone know what the tariff situation is now?

There have been threads in the past where members pined for a "like" button in PHOTRIO forums. I always agreed with the arguments against adding one. However, these two quoted posts are enough to change my mind. Like!

    TX400 - HP5+ Shootout

As big a jazz fan as I am and as much as I enjoy Joe Pass' playing, it might not be such a good idea to accept his advice unquestioningly. Note that he was a heroin addict who died at age 65 from liver cancer. :)

    Osaka Yodobashi Camera Film Selection

Andy, need you to confirm the subtitle translation at 0:46 in that video. Did Suzuki san really say this? "It's cloudy, so let's take photos with as much light as possible. Film images turn out better that way." If so, any idea what it was supposed to mean? If I heard those exact words in...

Tariffs and Film and Paper prices

Actually, those two are both nothing more than marketing initiatives of Swan Photo Labs, which has been here in San Clemente since 1993. :)

Tariffs and Film and Paper prices

Several of us refuted that nonsense a long time ago, using actual facts. F4U hasn't been back to this thread since. :)

What US-made gelatin silver paper will you print those negatives on?

Tariffs and Film and Paper prices

That was the general historical trend. However, blanket import taxes ("tariffs") don't consider any such history. No matter that HARMAN is in the UK or FOMA is in the Czech Republic. Irrespective of either's labor costs / environmental practices, their products will be taxed just like...

Tariffs and Film and Paper prices

Addressing the US, the UK, Europe and Japan as if they're one big, happy, free-trading, manufacturing family is inconsistent with the perception of those currently running the US government.

Tariffs and Film and Paper prices

The US has been participating in free trade for more than three decades. When it started, manufacturing of a wide variety of products moved offshore to places with lower labor cost and looser environmental/labor regulations. It's taken that long to reach the situation we were in at the end of...
