The Agfa Clack is a fun little camera! The shutter speed on the Clack is very slow, fixed at around 1/30 of a second, which makes it challenging to hand hold and get clear images. Bring a tripod and shutter release, like you said, or stabilize the camera on something solid, like a wall or pole...
I took Nick Carver's course on spot metering and found it very helpful. I was new to manual metering and spot metering and wanted a structured course to learn from. It delivered. Plus, it comes with a 10% coupon code for the revini labs spotmeter...
It's back! My IIIa returned 8 weeks after it was delivered to DAG. I didn't realize how dirty the lens, rangefinder, and viewfinder were until I looked through them and i could see clearly!
When I contacted DAG earlier this year, sometime around February, he said 2-3 weeks. Maybe I misunderstood, because I was asking about a lens and body, and 2-3 weeks was for the lens only. What I can say is that I've had my workload triple before and it is overwhelming. I hope things settle into...
Thank you to everyone that replied here. Especially you, koraks. You took time to spell out some interesting observations that I'll think about for some time. For now, I'll put this lens on the shelf.
Thanks again!
What is your experience with getting rid of lens that develops a haze or fungus problem while in your care? I'm not interested in guidance on cleaning or repairing a lens. I'm also not interested in how to sell to ebays, KEH, or some other used camera store. That's a lot of time and energy for...
A week ago, I sent my 1936 IIIa and summar lens to DAG for a full overhaul and shutter repair. Hopefully, in a few short weeks, I'll be able to say the same thing!
This was very helpful. Knowing that the flash unit and its connection can be tempermental is very helpful and helps me ask good questions when it comes time to make a decision.
Thanks, wiltw, for your experiences. They are very much in the same direction as what I’m seeing and have helped me...
That’s an interesting way to think about this, and a good framework for taking a properly exposed image. I completely agree that Instax is a tricky film to shoot manually.
The info here and in the link above is the best info I’ve come across on this topic. There’s nothing in the Instax...
Thanks, koraks. I'll see what I can do about trying another flash unit. In the meantime, I’ll keep on with what I have and roll with the glitches. I'm at a junction where I need to decide if I want to put more into this system, upgrade to a newer Canon system, or try another brand. There’s a lot...
Thanks, wiltw. I took off the flash controller, lens, and tubes to do the cleaning, so maybe that helped get the flash working previously?
I disassembled the camera system and cleaned all the contacts the same way I did before. Now, the flash is exposing all over the place, but it's not a...
Thanks, wiltw!
I started some testing and began with a simple cleaning of the lens and tube contacts with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. After this quick scrub, I went out photographing. The flash worked as expected. It felt good to see image after image come though properly exposed.
But, now...
