Just to muddy the waters a bit, I have some photos from the other side...
I recently did an impromptu professional event shoot on NC400. Since my lab only does rush processing on C41 and B&W, and I wanted to get these photos to the event organizer, I ended up going with C41 instead of...
Pedroga, I wouldn't overthink it, just do C41 for now so you'll have a baseline of what to compare ECN2 to at least :) Good reason to buy a second roll!
As for photos, the photos I shared in my last post are C41 and EI 200. The majority of difference in rendition comes from the different camera...
I can say that NC400 definitely is nothing like Vision 3. It's got an ORWO sort of look that, if you shoot NC200/Opticolor 200/etc., you'll see the resemblance.
My two cents is, C41 is a good baseline to start with. But the thesis here is that it is a native ECN-2 film that, since CD-3 couplers...
I shot Fomapan 200 that failed to latch to my Voskhod's advance mechanism and made me accidentally expose the whole roll when I tried to unjam it, does that count? :)
I have. Shipping is already expensive and the tariffs are just added pain. I'd make sure to order a bunch of rolls in one go to amortize the cost.
It sounds like everyone is talking about 120 here, but for anyone who wants to shoot 35mm, HR-50 and Scala 50 (same emulsion, just different...
I'm one of those guys who loves NC400 and I shoot it a lot. My best results have been EI 200 (so a stop overexposure) + ECN-2 xpro. I think there's a few reasons why a lot of people didn't take to it:
1. ORWO (Filmotec/InovisCoat) is terrible at messaging, advertising, and customer outreach...
Plenty of evidence that Fuji is coating at a very low rate. This whole film freezer rumor makes little sense when you consider that it probably costs a lot more to properly cold store all these supposed master rolls for 2/5/10/whatever years, than it is to have their Instax coating machines run...
I got a couple rolls of Provia from Freestyle recently. I don't think the packs are easy to come by, if at all, but individual rolls come through now and then.
I would also argue that, if you look on Reddit and the like, the reaction to Phoenix has been far removed from being a failure. Phoenix 1 was really a hit with the lomo type crowd.
Rollei IR is Aviphot 200 unless you're talking about the old Rollei IR, from many years ago. Aviphot 400 hasn't been produced in over a decade and the last respools were sold ~2018-2019, when JCH Streetpan quietly switched to Aviphot 200.
All panchro aerial film benefits from ~1-2 stops of...
FPP Infrared is Astrum IR-200. There was some speculation on the thread about Astrum IR that it is a batch of Agfa Aviphot 200 that was defective, but had heightened IR sensitivity compared to spec, so Astrum brought it. Thus it's a limited product.
As cool as IR is, there's no point in it...
This sounds like that rumor that Kodacolor 100 is relabeled ProImage 100, that hype merchants on social media keep pushing for clicks, despite it being obvious for a long time that it is just a Colorplus emulsion related to Lomography's CN100.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is some shared...
IIRC, their idea was that the Instagram generation is used to smartphone camera ratios and portrait orientation, so they made the Pentax 17 half frame and portrait oriented to be more intuitive to that crowd, in theory at least. If a photo is only going onto Instagram, then half frame provides...
