I can't say if a CP31 or Durst is worth thousands, but I can state categorically that a CAP-40 is not.
I can't imagine that any decades old mechanical contraption with metal and rubber parts continuously exposed to harsh chemicals, very limited spare parts and no support would be worth a...
I have a CAP-40. I got it locally. Conversion to RA4 was simple and it works.
If you can get one for $100 and then throw another $50 of parts into it for RA4 use I'd say go for it. Anything more, I'd suggest taking the advice in previous comments and look at other approaches. These machines...
I did not have any issues, fit or focus-wise, when I transplanted mine. It's small sample size of two, however. Perhaps they were made to different tolerances at different times, or something else was going on. If needed, taking the feet down a fraction of a millimeter should not be a challenge...
You can also look for a 600se compatible pack film back and salvage the feet from it. Pack film backs should be very cheap, as there's no film for them. The feet are secured with screws. It's easy to transplant them to a Universal-compatible back or adapter plate. (This is what I did).
Yes, I have experienced this as recently as a few months ago. We only buy cine film sporadically in my line of work (to test old equipment). No frequent orders.
Kodak now requires production company information and verification for all sales of 35mm cine film. Last time I ordered it was not...
It has been pretty much whatever they have available to stuff the box at the moment. Their 80 & 320 products have been different stocks over the years. It's affordable and sometimes it's good. Maybe not the most consistent film, both in terms of behaviour and finishing (I've gotten sheets that...
Does the new Widelux-X take filters?
The old Widelux models used an unusual hook mount. You can still find old sets of these filters for sale but prices are very high. There was a maker (Gerry Orkin) who was 3d printing compatible filters for a while, but I believe his last batch was produced...
They've sold 168 preorders in less than a day, so there's something resembling a market for a super-premium panoramic film camera in 2026. I never would have thought that possible.
I wonder how many buyers are purchasing the WideluxX as a collectable rather than a usable camera?
