    Lippmann plates: future potential?

You correctly highlight the challenges, but I don't think that these are insuperable. It must be remembered that the original plates were really not much more than a proof of concet, and the processes and methods used were not chosen with a view to practicability as to large-scale use. It is at...

    Lippmann plates: future potential?

This thread {from which the present post was split off} is fascinating stuff. I first came across Lippmann plates maye 10 years ago, and they have often been on my mind in idle moments. I have a big question about this, so prepare for a bit of a lengthy read. I'll try keep it brief, though...

Why people like WD-40 on camera so much?

https://www.thephoblographer.com/2026/01/22/my-canon-eos-r-was-acting-up-heres-how-i-fixed-it/ Just in case anyone thought that this wasn't an issue any more, I see Phoblographer happily posting about using WD-40.
  4. Free Mamiya M645 - 220 Film cartridge looking for a home. Yours for the P&P.

Sharp? I may just shave myself with that later! I see mixed views on this, with some very experienced voices saying that the 220 can be used for 120 (with the little additional triangle thingie removed). I'm absoltely not in a position to disagree! I'll leave it out there. I'm an old IBM head...
  5. Free Mamiya M645 - 220 Film cartridge looking for a home. Yours for the P&P.

Is that absolutely certain? There is a visible difference beteen the depth to which the pressure plates are sitting as between my 120 and 220 slides. The 220 sits further out - as would be expected. However... on the 120 slide, I see that there are two holes ready for the triangular piece...
  6. Free Mamiya M645 - 220 Film cartridge looking for a home. Yours for the P&P.

OK, for the P&P and a roll of 120 (any brand at all). I have two 220 film inserts for the Mamiya M645. I don't ever foresee getting my hands 220 film, so if there is someone out there either with 220 stock or someone spooling their own 220 film, they can have one for the costs of post. There...

An adaptor to sit between my Fuji X-T5 and my Mamiya 645 lenses. €25. A bargain.

Do you use your favorite medium format lens to shoot digital?

A spreadsheet in this form is nothing but tabulated assertions. It doesn't gain truth by being nicely presented. What are the workings behind it, and what specs are you referring to in it?

What "projects"? Industry run? Can you post the results?

    That's a fast lens, not a "fast f-stop".

Do you use your favorite medium format lens to shoot digital?

That's the crop factor. Sensor size is distinct from focal length. My observations with the etup aren't restricted to the image size, although it is generally considered to be a good indicator. I think you may also be making the mistake that effective focal length is based on a full-frame...

That proves my point. However, you might also want to consider the actual physical width of the lens. It is a factor in defining f-stops. Also, why do you insist on referring to aperture stops as "speeds"?

I'm not sure where you are getting your figures from. I'm basing mine on the lens specs and also experience from calibrating for use. That figure of 128mm has the benefit of both having been tested by myself, and also being the figure which others have also derived.
