There seems to be a large disparity between the 4g of CD-4, above and elsewhere nd the 12g above. This is no critixusm - keep up the good work, please

    Good results with HP5+ (also 400TX) and DK-50 1:1

With T-grain 400 @ box speed I use DK50 1+9 for 14 min at 20C. The results are excellent. I found times to be remarkably like FX55 times for some unknown reason. I should add that subbing the metol with Phenidone 0.25g will get you FX37 Good luck Murray

Fx37 is it the same as Adox fx39ll ?

could FX39 be DK50 with substituted K carbonate? Crawley preferred both over phenidone and Na carbonate.

Alternative to wiping film between fingers.

Best advice given on ths list years ago was to use a new 1968 Combi rear window wiper blade The poster swore by it.

Dignan 2-bath color negative process, modification 1

If I cannot print a color chart correctly, what chance is there I can get a paper print to exactly match either the original chart or a color negative by any method?

Alan, I downloaded the first image (18 footer?) into my fav, Irfanview and went to image/color correction and clicked on a white deck to set that as white. Blue came up and red down- both just a little. A nonauto scan treated this way might save you a lot of fiddling.

I used PPD in the late 1950s for Agfacolor. Even managed a print, same developing agent. No mask in those days. Don't ask for details -it has been too long.

Don't forget Sod. bisulfAte as a substitute for sulfuric acid. Used as a pH lowering agent for pools. https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/subsitution-of-sodium-bisulfate-for-sulfuric-acid-w-v-calculation-query.127462/

we continue to agree, John. With 35mm T-grain 400 @ box dil. 1+9 for 13min I am most impressed. Little grain and very acceptible contrast. As soon as I saw the results I decided I could live with that if it was all I could get, as said above. N.B. FX-37 is the phenidone equivalent.

So true Raghu. They colorise old film movies already. But .... you still have to make a print of the wedding dress that satisfies the mother of the bride. šŸ˜’

Thank you Lachlan, that was a trip back in time. I was a young feller then and I'm still asking the same questions. Gotta be me. PE always spoke ex cathedra but there were other opiniins, too. I did 2 films recently in the same tank and same film batch. One was blank and the other only just...

Alan, I will watch with interest how you get on with Dignan's Double Dunk, as so many bloggers are enthusiastic initially then report back that the negatives are getting thinner and thinner. I wonder if it is possible that iodide in the coating accumulates from roll to roll and degrades the...
