When i complained to Maco about my last box of Rollei IR400 having no notch codes, their explanation was "it was not possible to punch the notch during the last production run. However, there should have been a sticker on the packaging indicating this."

Yes, it's a common problem with the 2509 reels, either with or without the plastic spacers.

OP: I'd start by managing the owners expectations......advising them that they are very unlikely to see a usable image.
