Im using split image focusing aid by looking at the ground glass through an eye loupe. 55mm split is lined up perfectly (that's the lens i calibrated with) .. 80mm is off quite noticeably and i have a 150mm that's also off but hardly noticeable.
ok i seem to have fixed the issue. The glass that sits above the focusing screen has what looks like a thin removable plastic frame. This was actually installed below the clear glass and not above it. Swapping this round seems to have fixed the problem. I can now reach and pass infinity using...
Sure, but wouldn't is see infinity be passed before i reached the bottom of the mirror box?.. what's happening is, if the mirror could go a couple of mm past the bottom of the mirror box infinity would finally be reached, but obviously that cannot be done. I would have expected infinity to be...
That's all good advice thank you. But what i can't understand is, even when the mirror stop is completely removed the focus still does not quite reach infinity? you would expect it to pass infinity with the mirror stop removed right? Thank you.
Yes, this is exactly where I am at. I have done what you have suggested and still infinity focus is not possible, I just wanted to confirm thats all i can really do without sending in for a check up/repair. Thank you for being on the same page.
Thanks, the screw is not tight.. also even with the mirror stop removed and the mirror seated at its lowest position, it still can't reach infinity. So that goes against what you say about the mirror seated too low. For me the mirror is not low enough? even with the mirror stop removed!
