No love for Ricoh KR Super II? It's made by Cosina, but unlike several other Ricoh cameras, this one's fully mechanical. I had a lot of fun with it when I owned it. It's very basic but also very cheap.
I buy goods from Reflx in China regularly, so as soon as it pops up, I'll give it a try. Sadly though, the scratches on Lucky's BW films remain an issue (on both - 36-frame rolls and 30.5 m bulks). Hopefully colour film won't have the same problem, but it remains to be seen.
Whatever difference there is between the older and newer FM, is nicely covered in its repair manual, which features them both. There's plenty of difference all around the device, but I don't remember the specific part you're interested in. I should have a pdf of that manual somewhere on my hard...
Sure! Here they are:
The spool of FED-2 is 44.5 mm long, the hole which accommodates the camera's advance shaft has a diameter of 11.2 mm, the hole on the other end has a diameter of 4.5 mm and the outer thread is 7.2 mm, or so.
Here are some dimensions that I took on Zorki I standard take-up spool:
The lower hole is wider than 5 mm, it's 6.5 mm. In addition, the outer diameter of that threaded thing is 9 mm. Let me know if you need some more measurements!
I have another spool as well, that one's from FED-2 camera...
Oooof! If that's you talking in the video, then props to you for using a Zenit! Mine resides somewhere in one of my drawers.
Back on the subject, though: peroxide bleach didn't work for me. It didn't bleach the negatives completely so I ended up with a mess. I should really try finding a higher...
Thank you, I have a plastic spiral that has a transparent upper part - might be convenient for better exposure. I also have a roll of Rollei Infrared which turned out to be underwhelming in its near infrared role, so that's what I'm going to use.
I probably sound dumb, but I always thought "expose from both sides" meant removing the film from the spiral and exposing its entire length from both sides 🤦‍♂️
I accidentally ended up having the necessary chemicals for this kind of reversal, so I thought I would give it a try, just out of curiosity. But I have a question:
Should the film be wet during the second exposure, or should I let it dry first? Re-spooling the wet film on the spiral, on the...
Nikon n8008/F-801 or N/F80 sound reasonable to me. They cost much cheaper compared to what they are capable of. Want backward compatibility with manual lenses? Go for n8008. Want better compatibility with modern ones? Then it's N80.
P.S. In my country, the only thing you can get for lunch money...
If my memory serves me well, Kentmere Photographic was a separate company with its own film production line, which was acquired by Harman in mid-2000s. What we know as Kentmere 100 and Kentmere 400, were their in-house films, which after being acquired by Harman, are still manufactured and sold...
