I've been wanting a remote control mechanical shutter release for many years, so I might buy one of these. I already have an extension that I use with the Autoknips IV selftimer on old dial-set Compur shutters.
"Novar" was a name they used on lenses from different manufacturers. Most were triplets. The 6,8 would have been a little cheaper.

It might have been sold by a photographic store or mail order company under their own name. "PARIS" is a strong clue. The lens is French, and the shutter is most probably a French GITZO Type B (Pretty much a clone of the German Gauthier "Vario" shutter). Gitzo was founded in 1917, so the camera...

The later "Jena" and "Aus Jena" lenses, marked so for legal reasons were marked "DDR" and had the East German quality mark (an 1 inside a Q). And the normal production of post war Carl Zeiss Jena...
The "C. Z. Jena" and red rhombus instead of "T" are most probably done like that for legal reasons, and note that it says "Germany" instead of "DDR" or "GDR", so I think it was made before East Germany was founded.
