Hello,
I had always assumed I had a Canon L2 camera, but I began to have doubts when I thought about fixing the unreliable slow shutter speeds and began looking into how hard it was to access that part of the shutter. The camera is stamped L2 on the bottom baseplate, and has the number 527683...
One of my FILCA's is different. It doesn't have any text at the bottom, whereas the others say 'Ernst Leitz Wetzlar' and 'Germany'. It is actually the one on the right in the picture I posted. But it does have the groove that aligns the shells and seems to be like the others.
I don't think so, but Nikon made something that is similar. I just googled 'nikon reloadable film cassette' and found 2 for sale, but they were 379 SEK each.....
I use these a lot, since I only shoot black and white film, and turned to bulk loading to save money. I was buying them, often in mixed lots, and have two (that I consider FILCA) that are like the one in the middle, between the 'IXMOO' on the left, and the more normal 'FILCA' on the right...
I was trying a 50mm Canon f1.4 lens on a Leica IIIA and the lens is so big it blocked part of the built in viewfinder. I had a Voigtländer Kontur viewfinder sitting around and put it on and I was quite pleased with how the two worked together. For those of you unfamiliar with the Kontur, it...
I finally developed that first roll of film and it definitely had problems. There were torn sprockets (on both sides of the film) and overlapping frames. The problem seemed to come towards the end of the roll, not at the beginning. Unfortunately, that IXMOO went back into a drawer with...
Hello,
I generally bulk load film, and have a bunch of IXMOO cartridges for my M series cameras, as well as a few FILCA. I have not had any issues with the IXMOO cartridges, but when I tried putting one of them in a 1935 IIIA, the film seemed to slip and bind some of the time. I assumed it...
The silver thing is the first clue I look for, but I also have some that have the silver nub and are definitely FILCA length. I don't know if they are put together from different parts but I remember looking at the internal part and I think it was IXMOO length.
When I was reluctant to spend a lot of money I bought a Canon LII and a Jupiter 12 and they worked well. I am pretty sure the J-12 was under 50 Euros, and while it may have made some minor marks in the LII, it worked well and I had it on an M1 leica for a while. I may have done service on a...
When I was in high school (we're talking the 60's) and we did things for the school newspaper and such, there were some people that would take a piece of bulk film and just stick it in their 35mm camera (I believe they were using Argus C3's) and I don't remember any issues. I think putting the...
I'll confess that I didn't think you could buy plates anymore but I found the Zebra ones, and 35 euros for 10 didn't sound too bad. ISO 2 could be a challenge, though. Personally I would go with film.
I would guess that the 'glass plate' would be very thin, 1-2 mm, judging by the lip on the black holder. There is another lip on the shiny part of the holder that would hold the glass plate (or plate plus film) in place. The plates don't seem to be spring loaded like on the 9 x 12 plate...
Here are two pictures of the camera, plus 2 of the plate holder. It is hinged, and once open, the black plate holder part is also hinged, so a plate can be loaded on each side.
