Yes, Wally Mart was the last place I bought it. It was late fall and they had a large tub of it in their clearance isle. I really didn't need it then but the price on clearance was so low I couldn't refuse.
That's a very different type of pattern in the sky than what I normally see as mottling. Almost like some kind of chemical reaction within the emulsion itself. Strange for sure.
Yes, for some odd reason only a few stores handle the old fashion washing soda nowadays. The old days are gone I'm afraid. Used to walk down the grocery store isle and buy washing soda (Arm & Hammer) and Red Devil lye now problem at all.
Like Don says above, pool supply PH+. I was just at my local Menard's, and they have it in their pool care section. Probably not the cheapest place to buy it but handy if you run out and need some.
Yes, for sure the horseman is no feather weight, but like you said, it's well built. I wonder what the weight difference is between the Horseman and the VX125?
Looks like I might be playing with my Lucky 100 tomorrow or the next day according to the tracking results. I just got a new batch of Adox XT-3 for a practice run along with Pyrocat HDC
Yes, there are different arrangements for different cameras when it comes to ground glass and fresnel lens. If my old memory is correct when the Chamonix 45N1 first started being imported the ground glass and fresnel were one way and after some time they reversed the order.
If I were to get another monorail it would be the Horseman LE for sure. I like the way it breaks down and sets backup, fast and easy. But not in the market since I have an old Calumet monorail if I really need more movements and my Chamonix 4X5 and Toyo 4X5 are what I use 99% of the time anyway.
The 280mm image circle is for the later 180mm f5.6 Fujinon with the lettering on the outside of the front lens. The older 180mm f5.6 Fujinon with the lettering on the front bezel has an image circle of 305mm. Not very generous for movements, but useable stopped down to a shooting aperture of f22.
Yes, you are so right when it comes to field cameras. Wista, Toyo, Horseman, Linholf, Rittreck, Toko, and many wood field cameras. Heck, even a Crown Graphic 4X5 makes a dandy field camera.
For the lenses you have and the type of photography you do any of those cameras would work. I find that I use my Toyo (older model) much, much more than a monorail camera and still have all the movements I need for the type photography I do. One of the reasons I use the old Toyo more is the...
I'd love to have one, but I'd have to sell a kidney to buy one. I have thought about the Fujinon 180mm, which is in my price bracket and would allow me to keep both kidneys too.
If I were to buy a 35mm camera tomorrow it would be a Contax G2 with the 21mm lens and finder. I really like my G1 and have the 28mm, 45mm and 90mm for that. But I'm not buying a 35mm since I don't use or shoot 35mm that much at all. Had several Leica M's, screw mounts, both Canon and Leica...
