Please excuse my ignorance but why does it make sense for this to be a heliar design [and why would they design this lens to produce a 1:1 repro in an 8 x 10 print?]
Also just to add my general 2 cents to this thread I have tried several of the P67 lenses and have some thoughts.
45mm f4 -...
Question for the group about Mamiya C-series lenses. Legend has it that the chrome shutter ones with yellowish coatings are single coated while the black shutter are multi-coated (I've seen both yellowish and purpleish coatings). Here's my question: What was Mamiya doing single coating lenses in...
Hi @srtviper15 are you still looking for one? I am located in Philadelphia and have a Coolscan 9000 with the 120 (non-glass) holder, 35mm strip film holder, and PCI-E Firewire card that I have been considering selling for some time. I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the scans...
Well folks I stumbled on an eBay listing for a lens that was on my radar, the Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 for which the seller randomly decided to throw in a free FTZ adapter without increasing the cost of the lens. So that kinda blew up my whole carefully considered calculus, since I can sell that FTZ...
I'm trying to buy a wide angle zoom for my Nikon N65 (and be shared with digital, but I won't talk further about that here). I'm spoilt for choice. There are so many good wide zooms available for F-mount that used to cost kilobucks but are now in the sub-$500 range. I've narrowed it down to two...
Interesting, that makes sense. Was the problem as bad at 1:2, for scanning 6x6? I ask because I mostly shoot medium format and would love to get quality scans without stitching and am thinking of upgrading from my 55 2.8 to the 60 2.8 G ED
Where do people fall on this these days? I remember it used to be everyone agreed manual focus is best. Set it at the beginning of the day and you're gold. I've recently seen reports from people who are fans of autofocusing on each frame, especially with cameras that have very precise autofocus...
I have tried many Hasselblad lenses and am happy to add my experiences to this thread:
38mm SWC C T*: Completely worth the hype and price of entry, wonderful lens
40mm C T*: Very good, not great. IMO save up for the SWC rather than getting this.
50mm C: Very good but a bit soft along the...
Do you know if this is because it is more compatible with the ES-2, or because it actually has a better flat field / resolving power? Is it recommended compared to the 105 VR, or to the 50mm MC native Z-mount?
I remember a couple years back "everyone" agreed that the Nikon 55mm 2.8 was good enough to max out the resolution of a film scanning setup. I always found this a little hard to believe, but at least on my APS-C D5500, I was very happy with it. Back then there was also general agreement that...
These are all wildly overpriced for Mamiya C series cameras, even as prices have been increasing lately. One thing OP should know is that there is very little that can go wrong on these cameras, so even cosmetically beat ones can perform very well. Even tears in the outer bellows are not a...
That's a quite nice result from a Mamiya 6 folder. I've found most of the Zuiko lenses on these to have developed an uncleanable haze, or had their coating eaten and etched on by a fungus. How did you find one that was in good shape?
